In the bustling heart of Tokyo’s Azabujuban neighbourhood, an avant-garde establishment rises, casting a refreshing shadow over conventional nightlife. Tokyo Confidential, a cocktail oasis, seamlessly marries contrasting energies — reminiscent of a lively house soirée. Tokyo Confidential – Team.

Perched majestically with an enviable view of Tokyo Tower, the emblematic communication beacon of the metropolis, Tokyo Confidential crafts a narrative of camaraderie and inclusivity. Whether you’re an intrepid solo traveller or accompanied by spirited comrades, the promise remains unchanged: a heartening reception that transcends boundaries and celebrates global unity.

Holly Graham, the visionary behind this endeavour, recalls the genesis of her passion. During the pandemic’s isolation, their Hong Kong residence was transformed into a mini-bar, providing solace to Graham and her circle. “Our humble abode became a beacon of comfort. Today, we’re replicating that warmth, turning our bar into a sanctuary for all,” Graham reflects.

Artistic sensibilities permeate Tokyo Confidential. Pioneering works by Alan Rhys Berry from Argentina and America’s Ravi Zupa punctuate modern Japanese aesthetics. Graham’s cherished Maneki-neko collection and tributes to vintage Godzilla movies symbolize her deep-rooted adoration for Japan. As Graham articulates, “There isn’t a singular theme binding Tokyo Confidential, yet its diverse elements craft a cohesive story.”

Its pine bar top, sculpted from 300-year-old reclaimed shrine wood, is a quintessential feature, meandering through the venue, inviting patrons to draw closer and engage in intimate conversations.

In sync with its ethos of inclusivity, the drink menu, curated by Graham and lead mixologist Wakana Murata, caters to every palate. From spirited concoctions to low-alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages, quality remains uncompromised. Highlights include the “Destroy All Monsters” — a blend of miso brown butter-washed gin and manzanilla sherry — and “Julio’s House” — a tribute to the margarita maestro, Julio Bermejo.

Graham’s penchant for Champagne and agave finds representation on the menu, ensuring a tantalizing experience without denting the wallet. The ingenious “Drink Up” concept lets patrons savour rare spirits, and the “Lock Up” feature grants an opportunity to stash premium bottles in ornate lockers.

On the culinary front, Michelin-starred Chef Daniel Calvert crafts exquisite bar bites. From the lavish “Everything Bagel” topped with Kristal caviar to a nod to British cuisine with the “Coronation Chicken Monaka,” the offerings are nothing short of sensational.

Tokyo Confidential’s rooftop, open all year, grants breathtaking Tokyo Tower views and hosts myriad events. While walk-ins are welcomed in the main bar, the rooftop can be exclusively reserved for private gatherings.

Situated at 9F, THE V CITY PLACE, 1 Chome 6-1 Azabujuban, Tokyo Confidential operates from Wednesday to Sunday, 6 pm to 2 am. Dive deeper into this captivating universe at www.tokyoconfidential.com or their Instagram handle, @tokyoconfidentialbar.
