In stunning organizational prowess, Thailand has marked its position as a global destination for premier conventions, securing 23 eminent international conference bids set to be hosted through 2028.

As disclosed in a recent statement by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), the pinnacle of these achievements is the esteemed 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG). Scheduled for Bangkok, this high-profile event is projected to welcome a staggering 12,000 international delegates.

Making waves in the sporting and medical arenas, the FIFA Congress 2024 and the World Diabetes Congress 2025 are two landmark events poised to be held in Southeast Asia for the first time. Drawing global attention, the FIFA Congress anticipates a turnout of 2,000 representatives from 211 nations, while the World Diabetes Congress expects to attract 10,000 global professionals.

Medical conventions dominate the wins, with 14 out of the 23 bids tailored explicitly for healthcare. Two such illustrious events include the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) Congress 2024, expecting 8,000 delegates, and the World Congress on Pain 2026, set to host 5,000 specialists.

The TCEB’s innovative One Ministry, One Convention (OMOC) programme is at the heart of these accomplishments. This initiative amplifies collaboration between TCEB and specific government ministries, fostering an integrated approach to bidding. For instance, the Annual Meetings of IMF and WBG will proudly be hosted under the aegis of the Ministry of Finance. Similarly, the FIFA Congress will enjoy the Ministry of Tourism and Sports patronage, while the momentous medical conferences find support from the Ministry of Public Health.

Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, the esteemed President of TCEB, spoke eloquently about the triumphs. “The OMOC programme’s efficacy is evident from our recent successes, and it stands as a testament to Thailand’s robust strategy and collaboration in bringing prominent global events to our shores. Our vision is to not only attract but also aid organizers in achieving unmatched success for their conventions in Thailand,” he said.
