Shangri-La Sydney has set a new standard in the art of hotel living with the launch of its exclusive Artist in Residence program and stay package, a first-of-its-kind in an Australian hotel.

The harbourside hotel has partnered with Australian artist Goompi Ugerbabah to exhibit ten of his artworks in public spaces throughout the hotel.

“It’s exhilarating to look at my works on a wall of a nice hotel like the Shangri-La which definitely makes me proud and I know my family are proud as well,” said artist Goompi.

Goompi will be in residence at the hotel for two weeks a year to meet guests and create art, drawing inspiration from the iconic Sydney Harbour view beyond.

Guests can enjoy a private viewing of two pieces via a bespoke Artist in Residence package staying in a Sydney Harbour Suite adorned with Goompi’s artworks along with Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge panoramas.

As an exquisite keepsake, guests will take home one of the two unique limited-edition prints Mother’s Protection, and Tdapul Water Brings Life (Buudala), which have been created especially for the package.

The artful hotel experience also includes sumptuous dining at Altitude restaurant, premium cocktails at Blu Bar on 36, pampering Chi, The Spa treatments and access to Horizon Club Lounge on level 30.

Shangri-La Sydney General Manager Philippe Kronberg said, “We are delighted to introduce this unforgettable experience for our guests and our collaboration with Goompi reflects the hotel’s desire to celebrate Australian artists.”

Shangri-La Sydney’s Artist in Residence package starts from AUD 4,800 per night. The package includes: one limited edition Goompi Ugerbabah art print, a one-night stay in a Sydney Harbour Suite for two guests, a five-course dinner for two at Altitude including iconic wine pairing, a premium cocktail for two at Blu Bar on 36, a 60-minute massage for two at Chi, The Spa and Horizon Club Lounge access.
