Cartier has unveiled its latest luxury boutique at Terminal 3 of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, expanding the Maison’s footprint in Southwest China and bolstering its travel retail strategy in the Chinese market.
Chongqing serves as an economic powerhouse near the upper Chang Jiang River, ranking among the top 5 Chinese cities in terms of GDP last year and listed as one of the most desirable Chinese domestic travel destinations in the post-pandemic era.
Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, one of the busiest in Southwest China, has also returned to its former bustle with tourists. Located centrally in Terminal 3’s luxury retail space, the new Cartier boutique welcomes travellers to explore the Maison’s rich product universe in an inviting setting.
A convergence of simplicity and elegance, the Cartier boutique spans 190 square meters. The design, a synthesis of Cartier’s codes, creates an artful juxtaposition of softness and passion.
Upon entering the boutique, travellers are greeted by Cartier’s iconic panther fresco set amidst the city’s unique architectural landscape. The vibrant collision of red and gold radiates with brilliance, infusing the surroundings with boundless vitality. The fluted patterns on the boutique’s interior walls artfully echo the city’s dynamism, while the circular ceiling design with a golden patina adds a charming touch to the overall space.
In the women’s area, collections of exquisite jewellery, timepieces, and accessories are delicately presented amidst a warm and distinctive champagne color palette, complementing the contemporary chandeliers overhead. The men’s universe focuses on natural elements, with a feature wall adorned with bronze-toned foliage, creating a sense of tranquility and freshness.
In the bridal area, a golden mesh panel showcases overlapping mountain ranges, calling to mind the striking natural wonders of the city. The boutique brings a fluid, dynamic and luxurious shopping experience with the mixture of an alluring local touch with the quintessential Cartier aesthetic.
Virginie Martignac, Cartier’s Global Travel Retail Director, said, “Chongqing is an indispensable part of Cartier’s travel retail strategy in China. The new boutique at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport strengthens our strategic presence in this important domestic travel hub, allowing us to provide an elevated airport shopping experience to Chinese travellers and further enrich our travel retail footprint in the Chinese market. We look forward to sharing Cartier’s interpretation of the mountainous city, Maison’s iconic creations and exceptional hospitality with travellers in the upcoming years.”
