The iconic classic car race, the Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti, ran from 20th to 23rd July. The event, organised by the Automobile Club di Belluno and the Automobile Club d’Italia (with the collaboration of the ACI Storico Club and ACI Sport), saw participants roaring up and down the ribboning roads of the Dolomites in their classic cars. The extraordinary setting of the Dolomites, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, became the most exceptional stage for more than 70 crews from 10 different countries including Belgium, Germany, Greece, England, the Netherlands and non-European countries such as Japan. It was three days of elegant classic gentleman racing. Italians do it best.
TEDX returns to Cortina on 25th August for its annual coming together to share the spirit of ideas worth spreading. Also during August, Cortina 4 Pets and Il Cane Istruito brings a variety of activities for owners and their dogs to Cortina, ranging from wellness advice, training, dog-sitting services, awareness courses about the surrounding nature and respect for wildlife, yoga with your pet and more.
The all-important “Best of the Alps” Golf Cup brings international players to Cortina in September. Meanwhile, Queen of Taste is another highlight in September. Taking place over two days, this food festival caters for all tastes, and takes up residence in the pretty town of Cortina in the main square, celebrating local tastes, traditions and flavours which have an important history in the valley of Ampezzo, and are given a gourmet twist by high-ranking chefs.
Cortina offers some of the best shopping in the Alps, and local crafts to browse, along with museums devoted to 20th century Italian art and the region’s WWI history. The Winter Olympics started here in 1956, opened by Sophia Loren, and the two main host cities, Milano and Cortina, will see the multi-sport event roll out from 2nd – 22nd February 2026.
