Near the lush Central Park neighborhood on Icon of the SeasRoyal Caribbean International, the world-renowned cruise line, continues its tradition of stunning innovation by unveiling the reimagined Royal Promenade on its latest cruise ship, the Icon of the Seas. The grand reveal occurred on July 28 during the premiere of the newest episode in their popular series, “Making an Icon: Creating Royal Promenade”.

This monumental redesign represents the most significant transformation of the Royal Promenade since its introduction in 1999. Once considered the ship’s heart, the Royal Promenade has evolved into a pulsating hub of experiences, dynamically changing daily to night, featuring its first-ever ocean views. The new design incorporates an impressive three-story-tall structure, a diverse offering of over 15 restaurants, bars and lounges, entertainment and activities, and dedicated spaces for kids and teens.

The revitalized Royal Promenade, known as the starting point for the world’s best vacation experiences, has been thoughtfully crafted to provide an unforgettable first impression for guests as they board the Icon of the Seas. This lively plaza, spread across two fully interconnected decks, blends newly introduced features with perennial favourites, amplifying the area’s aura while offering guests an assortment of exciting options.

A host of new experiences await guests, including the 1400 Lobby Bar, a meet-up point for any time of day with an ocean-facing terrace – the first of its kind to open up the Promenade to the refreshing outdoor ambience. Additionally, cruisers can look forward to Dueling Pianos, Royal Caribbean’s inaugural duelling pianos bar; Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar in the heart of the action, and The Pearl Cafe, an eatery with panoramic ocean views thanks to its grand windows.

Central Park’s American steakhouse, Chops Grille, returns on Icon of the Seas. Alongside the signature high-quality cuts and savoury sides, the hallmark venue debuts a new butcher’s display with specialty cuts like wagyu beef and bone-in tomahawks.

The redesigned Royal Promenade aims to provide fun for everyone on board, from children and teens to parents and extended families. Among the highlights is the Absolute Zero, the largest and boldest ice arena in the Royal Caribbean’s fleet. The stadium sports a new oval shape and a larger ice sheet for exhilarating skating action or riveting entertainment shows.

Not far away, Laser Tag: The Fight for Atlantis offers an adrenaline-fueled adventure where everyone can participate. Meanwhile, younger guests can engage their senses with the Adventure Ocean program, winner of multiple awards. This comprehensive kids’ program features various activities, from interactive workshops to cozy lounge spaces, specially tailored to suit every age group.

Teens have a place at Social 020, a hidden enclave filled with video games, music, movies, and relaxing lounges.

Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, expressed his excitement at the redesign. “We’ve always spoken about the need to honour tradition, to evolve much of the experiences, and to be innovative and revolutionary when you look at Icon. Our loyalists who love all the traditional elements of Royal Promenade will find it and a lot of innovation,” he said.

With the remodelled Royal Promenade, the Icon of the Seas promises a revolutionary cruising experience filled with memorable moments, innovative features, and breathtaking ocean views. This, indeed, is where the world’s best vacation begins.
