Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) announced a thrilling addition to their fleet, the Norwegian Viva, which marks an exciting new chapter in the esteemed company’s 56-year history of redefining maritime travel. The awe-inspiring vessel was proudly received at the distinguished Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy, marking an important milestone in NCL’s quest to offer a luxurious cruising experience.
The Norwegian Viva follows in the footsteps of the critically acclaimed Norwegian Prima launched in 2022, adding to the fleet of what will eventually be six vessels in the innovative Prima Class. Norwegian Viva’s debut showcases the finest cruising luxury and innovation, with the vessel’s mantra “Live it Up” echoing throughout its many features.
“Our vision for the Prima Class couldn’t have been achieved without our partnership with Fincantieri, one of the world’s most remarkable shipyards,” expressed David J. Herrera, President of Norwegian Cruise Line. “The delivery of Norwegian Viva is a momentous event, and we eagerly await our guests’ reactions when they step aboard.”
Norwegian Viva brings unprecedented luxury and excitement to the high seas, offering guests an array of onboard activities, including the three-story Viva Speedway and the exquisite Indulge Food Hall—an open-air food market hosting 11 distinct dining venues.
Unique to Norwegian Viva, it will debut the Tony Award®-nominated musical production, “Beetlejuice,” a fantastical adaptation of Tim Burton’s iconic 1988 film. The ship also presents the interactive game show experience Press Your Luck Live, allowing guests to participate and win exciting prizes.
The ship, measuring a colossal 965 feet long and displacing 143,535 gross tonnes, accommodates 3,100 guests and features The Concourse, an outdoor sculpture garden nestled within Ocean Boulevard, a wrap-around boardwalk offering unmatched proximity to the ocean. The Concourse is adorned with artwork from notable artists such as Kevin Box, Jonathan Prince, Arik Levy, Richard Hudson, Sophie Elizabeth Thompson, and Pablo Atchugarry.
Adding to the vessel’s captivating ambience, an exclusive work by renowned British digital artist Dominic Harris will be showcased in the Metropolitan Bar, the ship’s sustainable cocktail bar. The “Every Wing has a Silver Lining” installation spans 52 feet and offers guests a unique interactive experience.
Norwegian Viva reflects our strong collaboration with Norwegian Cruise Line,” said Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri. “We’re proud to be part of the revolutionary Prima Class journey and look forward to the exciting additions the upcoming Prima Class vessels will bring.”
