Mastercard never fails to come up with exciting offers that make cardholders’ days a little bit more special. From July 19 to October 31, 2023, cardholders linking their Mastercard debit or credit cards issued outside the Chinese mainland to the Alipay digital wallet for the first time will instantly receive a RMB10 discount1. The offer is available on a first-come-first-served basis while daily supplies last.
It only takes a few simple steps to link Mastercard debit or credit cards to Alipay and use it for payments:
- Download the Alipay app
- Tap “Sign Up”
- Tap “Me”, select “Bank Cards” to add a Mastercard debit or credit card, and then fill in your card information
- Select the Mastercard debit or credit card as the payment card
- To pay, tap “Scan” and scan the merchant’s QR code, or tap “Pay/Collect” and then show the merchant the payment code. Alternatively, cardholders can finalize their purchase in the merchant’s app by selecting Alipay as the payment method.
This offer builds on a new service co-launched by Mastercard and Alipay last month, which enables cashless payment for Mastercard cardholders using their existing Mastercard debit or credit cards via the Alipay digital wallet in the Chinese mainland – regardless of where in the world their Mastercard card was issued. Cardholders can enjoy services such as food delivery or taxi hailing more conveniently and safely, without having to set up or top up a prepaid account, nor open a Chinese mainland bank account.

Each account or user has a one-time access or use of the discount during the promotion period. If a refund occurs after the transaction, the refund amount would be equivalent to the amount paid, with the discount applied, at the time of the transaction. Therefore, the discount will not be restored once it has been used.
