Melbourne’s real estate landscape is about to be transformed, with the news that property tycoon, Capital Alliance, has secured a planning permit for a massive $340M dual-hotel complex in the bustling Docklands district in a landmark partnership with Australia’s esteemed International Hotel Group, TFE Hotels.
Capital Alliance, a front-runner in property development, expressed its delight at receiving the green light for the innovative project to redefine the Docklands. Positioned on a premium site at 28-38 Pearl River Road, the ground-breaking project is touted as the last great opportunity to etch an indelible mark on this coveted precinct, a promise that Capital Alliance is all set to fulfil.
The ambitious scheme includes an ultramodern 1000-guest capacity convention centre – touted to be one of Australia’s most sizable – and twin hotels showcasing Australia’s largest rooftop infinity pool. With 305 rooms, the complex will feature the exclusive Collection by the TFE Hotels brand and the upscale A by Adina, cementing Capital Alliance’s commitment to exceptional hospitality experiences and architectural innovation.
Capital Alliance’s Founder and CEO, Mohan Du, voiced his optimism as the project steps into its next phase, despite prevailing economic uncertainties. “Pearl River is our final opportunity to contribute a transformative project to Docklands, marking a significant milestone for us. In collaboration with TFE Hotels, we aim to craft a precinct that seamlessly blends work, rest, and play,” he shared. “With a keen focus on sustainability and world-class amenities, we aim to provide a high-end setting for large scale Melbourne events.”
Melbourne’s Lord Mayor, Sally Capp, also lauded the development, citing Docklands’ growing attraction due to its waterfront views, easy city access, and myriad shopping and dining options. The area’s popularity has remarkably recovered, surpassing pre-pandemic levels of night-time pedestrian activity.
A striking highlight of the project is the inclusion of the longest escalator in Australia, set to captivate visitors with its awe-inspiring scale and state-of-the-art visual projection technology. Comparing it to the famed Pompidou Centre in Paris, Deputy Lord Mayor Nicholas Reece anticipates the escalator to become “one of the best rides in Melbourne,” leading to an exciting bar and function centre.
Over the years, Capital Alliance has established a reputation for delivering iconic projects that reshape urban landscapes, and the Pearl River development promises to be a shining addition to this legacy. Construction is expected to kick off in the first half of 2024, setting the stage for a new era of innovation and architectural excellence in Melbourne.
