Drawing upon a rich heritage of award-winning design work, Joyce Wang Studio unveils its latest collaboration with Maximal Concept: the stunning Mott 32 restaurant in Dubai, marking their debut design work in the Middle East’s dynamic hospitality scene. Mott 32, synonymous with delectable Chinese cuisine, has been established in global culinary hotspots like Hong Kong, Singapore, Vancouver, and Las Vegas, courtesy of Joyce Wang Studio’s signature design elements. However, this new venture brings a distinctive flair tailored to the vibrant Middle Eastern landscape.
Nestled on the 73rd floor of the prestigious Address Beach Resort, Mott 32 Dubai luxuriously marries New York industrial loft aesthetics with the unmistakable opulence of Hong Kong. Embracing the lofty setting and stunning panoramic views of landmarks such as Bluewater Island, JBR, Palm Jumeirah, and Ain Dubai, Joyce Wang Studio delivers an airy design celebrating its breathtaking surroundings, enhancing the dining experience with natural light streaming in through vast sliding doors.
The interior pays homage to traditional Arabic courtyard houses, striking a fascinating parallel with Mott 32’s interior architecture. This fresh approach divides the restaurant into multiple unique spaces, from a stunning Central Courtyard boasting an open-air terrace and private and semi-private dining rooms to the bar and side dining areas. These areas gracefully interconnect, embodying individual identities while maintaining a seamless transition between interior and exterior spaces.
Each corner of Mott 32 carries a global signature. For instance, the Central Courtyard echoes the essence of other Mott 32 establishments worldwide, while the octagonal dining area, unique to the Dubai property, extends into the enchanting outdoor terrace.
The bar and lounge are generously peppered with Arabic culture and history references. Mott 32’s material choice for the bar area, displaying a brilliant ochre tone, hints at the Arab Peninsula’s charm. This cleverly forms geometric patterns reminiscent of modern Arabic sequences. Further, traditional designs are sculpted into high-rising tower forms, set against a backdrop of eglomise mirror foliage.
The restaurant offers private and semi-private dining spaces. The Oval Room, for instance, offers an exclusive experience for up to ten guests amidst the mesmerizing Dubai skyline visible through floor-to-ceiling windows. Meanwhile, the semi-private Iwan dining room and the larger Dune Chamber accommodate larger parties, each bearing unique design elements like hand-painted wall coverings, sculptural forms, and intricate metal shelves housing beautiful artifacts.
“It’s been a true pleasure to realize this design vision,” says Joyce Wang, founder of Joyce Wang Studio. “Working with Mott 32 over the years has been a privilege, and it’s been fulfilling to blend the restaurant’s deep roots in Hong Kong opulence with a taste of Dubai.”
The inauguration of Mott 32 Dubai is a testament to the brand’s dedication to creating unmatched dining experiences and their confidence in Joyce Wang Studio’s exceptional design prowess. Ready to serve its patrons, Mott 32 Dubai is now open for reservations.
