Inside Travel Group, the parent company of destination specialist brands, InsideJapan Tours and InsideAsia Tours, has officially joined the global B Corp movement of worldwide businesses aiming to balance profits with purpose.
The B Corp certification comes after a rigorous process in which Inside Travel Group produced evidence of its socially and environmentally responsible practices across all areas of the company. Inside Travel Group just crossed the 80-point pass mark threshold with a final score of 80.3.
Inside Travel Group Co-Founder Simon King said, “this is a great day for Inside Travel Group. The full process has taken us almost two years to complete, but it is only the start of a longer journey of being a better business for our suppliers, customers, partners, and staff, as well as the communities and environment we work in.”
Inside Travel Group Global Sustainability Manager Rob Moran said, “with our international offices, staff, and partners across the globe, the certification process has been a complex one, but it really is testament to the company’s commitment to being a better business which should also offer all our trade partners the reassurance that they are working with a great travel company.”
To date there are just under 6,300 B Corp companies in 89 countries across 159 industries. Of that there are only 31 certified travel companies in the tour operator space.
B Lab UK Executive Director Chris Turner said, “we are delighted to welcome Inside Travel Group to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies who are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good”.
Simon King continued, “as a long-haul tour operator, we can’t and won’t shy away from the climate impact that travel has. We believe that travel can be a force for good, and our B Corp certification will set us on a path of continual improvement which ultimately will be better for our destinations and all whom we work with.”
The announcement comes as the company also received its CarbonNeutral® certification. “This is all part of our mission to be a better travel company and to be the best at what we do, in every aspect,” added Moran.
InsideAsia has recently launched several new cultural adventures across South Korea and InsideJapan recently announced that after Japan’s borders reopened, 2023 was set to be one of its busiest years ever.
