AmadeusIn a rapidly evolving travel landscape, Amadeus Hospitality is revolutionizing the industry with its ecosystem approach, delivering personalized and seamless journeys that cater to the changing expectations of travellers. A new report by Amadeus, titled “Catalysts for Change: Building the Hospitality Ecosystem of the Future,” delves into how the industry can meet these evolving traveller expectations by leveraging the power of Amadeus’ ecosystem approach, which combines content from hotels, mobility services, and travel insurance.

According to the report, travellers’ expectations have significantly shifted over the past four years. Personalization takes centre stage today, with consumers seeking tailor-made offers when booking their travel experiences. Flexibility and sustainability are also key factors on the modern traveller’s wish list, along with digital tools to streamline the travel process.

The report’s release comes at a time when the travel industry is showing signs of recovery. Amadeus Demand360® data reveals that global hotel occupancy for June 2023 has reached an impressive 32%, surpassing figures from 2022 and 2021 and standing just three points behind the occupancy levels in 2019. Prominent destinations such as Rome, Paris, Tokyo, Seoul, and Singapore are all experiencing higher occupancies for June compared to the same month in 2019, signalling a robust global recovery.

Notably, global hotel average daily rates (ADR) have exceeded pre-pandemic levels, averaging US$216 for June 2023, compared to US$184 in June 2019. These positive indicators highlight the industry’s rebound and the potential for growth in the coming months.

Amidst this backdrop of recovery and heightened traveller expectations, the industry must be proactive and adaptable to meet the evolving needs of travellers. Amadeus is at the forefront of this transformation, combining content from hotels, mobility services, and travel protection into a unified ecosystem. This holistic approach enables travel providers and sellers to collaborate effectively, offering guests unforgettable experiences while driving profitable demand and fueling industry growth.

Francisco Pérez-Lozao Rüter, President of Hospitality at Amadeus, emphasizes the importance of collaboration and integrating content from key travel providers to cater to today’s travellers. He states, “Travelers want more options tailored to their preferences, and they want the process to be frictionless.” Rüter further highlights the need for personalization to maximize revenues, noting that Amadeus’ integrated content is a game-changer for travel sellers. With a strong focus on putting the traveller first, an ecosystem approach paves the way for end-to-end journeys that align with the desires of modern travellers.

The report, “Catalysts for Change,” draws insights from Amadeus’ comprehensive business intelligence data, Demand360®, and interviews with industry stakeholders such as hoteliers, mobility providers, travel sellers, travel insurance providers, and Amadeus executives.
