In a remarkable expansion of its hospitality offerings, the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has unveiled plans for AZULIK AlUla, a groundbreaking eco-luxury resort set to redefine sustainable tourism. Nestled within the breathtaking Nabatean Horizon District of the Journey Through Time (JTT) master plan, this exquisite property is poised to become a symbol of harmony between luxury and nature.
Scheduled to open its doors in 2027, AZULIK AlUla Resort will encompass an exclusive collection of 76 luxurious villas, each designed to immerse guests in opulence while respecting the surrounding environment. This visionary development, conceived in alignment with the Sustainability Charter for AlUla, Saudi Green Initiative, and Vision 2030, exemplifies the region’s commitment to preserving its natural heritage.

Royal Commission for AlUla grows its portfolio of hospitality offerings with plans for AZULIK AlUla, a new eco-luxury resort.
Drawing inspiration from the captivating ecosystem and the majestic sandstone cliffs, the resort’s architectural marvels will feature undulating exteriors constructed using sustainable materials and natural woven fibers. This integration of organic elements seamlessly blends the resort with its awe-inspiring surroundings, creating an unparalleled sense of serenity.
AZULIK AlUla Resort’s dedication to preserving AlUla’s rich heritage and ecological diversity is evident throughout its design. The development will safeguard and incorporate nearby ancient rock art inscriptions, paying homage to the region’s historical significance. Additionally, the resort will utilize an ingenious system that harnesses existing waterways for irrigation, ensuring minimal environmental impact and protecting against floods.
To provide an unparalleled guest experience, AZULIK AlUla Resort will ban private vehicle traffic within its premises. Instead, an innovative all-electric mobility system will be offered, along with designated horse and camel routes and hiking trails, inviting visitors to explore the magnificent landscapes at their own pace. By embracing sustainable transportation options, the resort aims to reduce its carbon footprint and showcase the beauty of AlUla’s unspoiled natural splendour.
AZULIK AlUla Resort is an ambitious collaboration between the esteemed Mexican luxury brand AZULIK and Roth Architecture, renowned for their innovative and sustainable designs. This partnership ensures the resort will exude elegance while adhering to the highest environmental standards.
The resort’s establishment will also bring significant socioeconomic benefits to the AlUla community. With an estimated creation of over 300 new jobs, AZULIK AlUla Resort will contribute to the region’s economic growth and foster local employment opportunities. Furthermore, the project will prioritize using local materials and engage local contractors during construction. The resort will procure most operational supplies from AlUla and the wider Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support regional economic development.
Commenting on this remarkable venture, John Northen, RCU Vice President of Hotels and Resorts, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “AZULIK AlUla is centered on the concept of sustainability and connection with the natural and human heritage surrounding this magnificent property. Along with its proximity to the AlMutadil Equestrian Village and Wadi AlFann, both under development, this resort is one of several assets contributing to AlUla’s growth as a leading destination in line with our Journey Through Time master plan.”
Roth, founder and CEO of AZULIK, added, “As a Tribe, we feel honored to bring AZULIK’s vision to AlUla. With gratitude and profound respect, we embark on a journey into AlUla’s vibrant heritage and culture. Rooted in its unique natural landscape, we begin a project close to our heart and our brand values. These are our first steps together, and I’m confident we will walk a beautiful and exciting path.”
With the unveiling of AZULIK AlUla Resort, AlUla is poised to captivate the world as a premier destination that seamlessly combines luxury, sustainability, and cultural preservation. As this remarkable eco-luxury resort joins the Journey Through Time masterplan, it sets a new benchmark for hospitality, fostering a deeper connection between visitors, nature, and the remarkable heritage of AlUla.
