The Main Cabin of Hawaiianʻs 787 Dreamliner, dubbed the Hawaiianʻs 787 Dreamliner Main Cabin, is equipped with 266 ergonomically designed Collins Aerospace Aspire seats. Boasting a lightweight and modern design, these seats provide generous space, enhanced shoulder and hip room, and a 12-inch seatback monitor with USB-A and USB-C charging ports. Each element of the Hawaiian Airlines’ 787 design is carefully crafted to pay homage to the Polynesian navigators who traversed the vast Pacific Ocean by observing the stars, sun, winds, waves, and wildlife. The airline collaborated with design consultant Teague to ensure Hawaiian’s vision of honouring Pacific navigation seamlessly integrates into the modern aircraft. Loreto Julian, the Interior Design and Surface Textile Design Manager at Teague, expressed their excitement about working alongside an iconic brand like Hawaiian Airlines, noting that the experience truly reflects the essence of Hawai’i and offers unexpected delights throughout the journey.

The advanced features of the 787 Dreamliner contribute to a smooth and high-tech flying experience. Enhanced cabin air filtration ensures a fresh environment, while the carbon-fibre composite airframe allows for a lower cabin altitude, resulting in a more comfortable flight. Passengers will appreciate the quiet cabin, thanks to acoustic-treated engine inlets. Additionally, the Dreamliner boasts extra-large dimmable windows, spacious overhead bins, and lavatory toilets and faucets with touchless activation.

Reflecting the wind and waves that have shaped the Hawaiian archipelago, the cabin incorporates curved forms throughout the entryway and interior. Deep aqua accents grace the carpets and privacy dividers in the Leihōkū Suites, immersing guests in a serene aquatic ambience.

Hawaiian’s 787 Dreamliner sets new standards for sustainable aviation. With its lightweight construction, innovative aerodynamics, and modern General Electric GEnx engines, the aircraft is the most fuel-efficient widebody in Hawaiian Airlines’ fleet. This advancement contributes to a significant reduction in fuel consumption compared to previous-generation aircraft of similar size.

The starry skies of Hawai’i inspire the simulated cabin sky in the 787 Dreamliner. The Leihōkū Suites offer a luminous star compass ceiling, allowing guests to gaze up at a celestial display reminiscent of the constellations that guided Polynesian voyagers on their nocturnal journeys. The cabin illumination transitions between soft daylight, soothing sunrises and sunsets, and beautiful starry evenings, creating a breathtaking atmosphere.

Every aspect of the interior design of Hawaiian Airlines’ 787 Dreamliner celebrates the pristine environment of the Hawaiian Islands. Wall panels adorned with native wood grain patterns and lavatory floors inspired by shimmering black volcanic sand serve as reminders of Hawaiʻi’s natural beauty. ‘Ōlelo Hawaiʻi, the Hawaiian language, is thoughtfully integrated into seat row numbers and other placards, guiding guests through their journey while immersing them in the local culture. Laminates and fabrics throughout the cabin reflect the elegant forms found in native plants, connecting passengers with the vibrant flora of the islands.

Hawaiian Airlines is poised to receive the first 12 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners in November, with further deliveries scheduled through 2027.
