British Airways has unveiled its new onboard safety video, featuring a host of British personalities and colleagues from the airline, showcasing everything that makes Britain genuinely unique and original. The video, shown on the airline’s long-haul aircraft from May 1, 2023, celebrates the timeless quirks of British life, including the love for fish and chips, discussing the weather, and the unique people that put the nation on the map.
The five-minute safety video celebrates British wit and humour, showcasing everything from British Airways’ colleagues to members of the public, and some familiar faces, including Robert Peston, Little Simz, Emma Raducanu, and chef Tom Kerridge. The airline’s Chief Customer Officer, Calum Laming, said, “We wanted this to be a real celebration of originality, and for us, it is our people who make us unique.”
The safety video was created to capture passengers’ attention and to reflect the airline’s original British positioning. It features British Airways colleagues from across the airline, both on the ground and in the air, performing their roles while highlighting the aircraft’s safety features. For instance, British Airways engineer Carl Carpenter drives across an engineering hangar while reminding customers to unplug their devices before his vehicle abruptly stops. Cabin crew member Sima Patel-Pryke asks customers for their attention while British rapper Little Simz removes her headphones, exclaiming, “What?!”
The safety video also features members of the Great British public, such as a farmer near Dover and two fishermen on the Deal beach in Kent, who are seen inflating their life jackets, bringing some humour to the safety demonstration.
The airline’s colleagues star alongside famous faces, including tennis player Emma Raducanu, who said, “It was a privilege to be a part of the new safety video and film alongside so many British Airways colleagues and household names from across the country. It’s fresh, engaging, and I know customers will be in for a treat when video is rolled out for the first time on board.”
The new safety video is part of the airline’s broader initiative to showcase British originality across its customer experience. It includes menus featuring the best British cuisine and its dedicated British Original in-flight entertainment channel. Later this year, a second version of the safety video will be released, featuring the airline’s colleagues in its new uniform.
British Airways has always been a leading airline in the aviation industry. This new safety video is another example of the airline’s commitment to providing exceptional customer experience while staying true to its British roots. So fasten your seatbelts, and get ready to enjoy the best of Britain on your next British Airways flight!
