OMO Kansai Airport – an airport hotel so fun, you may not want to catch your flight.

Hoshino Resorts’ first airport hotel, OMO Kansai Airport, opened its doors on March 20 and has already been receiving top reviews from guests.

The hotel aims to go beyond the experience of a usual airport hotel to provide something more for customers. OMO Kansai Airport offers guests a boutique hotel experience with plenty to see and do with the convenience of close proximity to the airport.

For Australian travellers, Jetstar offers direct flights from Cairns to Osaka (Kansai International Airport) three days a week. Flights arrive at KIX at 6:55pm meaning that guests can smoothly check in without having to worry about early check ins.

A survey conducted by OMO in 2022 found that while customers generally look at price, accessibility and cleanliness when choosing an airport hotel, they also stay for a surprisingly long time. OMO Kansai is designed to meet all the baseline needs of travellers while giving them something more for their stay.

The hotel features rooms with the characteristic charm of an OMO hotel as well as airport and aeroplane-themed lounges and common areas.

OMO Base is a feature of OMO hotels. Each OMO Base provides neighbourhood maps and workspaces where guests can get a good understanding of the surrounding area or can take a break.

OMO Base at OMO Kansai Airport is located on the first and second floors and features airport and aeroplane themed interior designs to add a touch of fun for travellers. The second floor is connected directly to the train station, only one stop away from the airport.

On the 21st floor the hotel’s Express Full-Buffet high-rise restaurant offers a unique concept – a gourmet buffet. Guests can either enjoy the view while they dine or for those in a hurry – takeaway is available. The restaurant features okonomiyaki (Japanese savoury pancakes), a local specialty from the Kansai region and highly recommended for dinner.

Another unique feature is the large public bath area that includes an indoor bath and a partly open-air bath. An integral part of Japanese culture are onsen (hot spring baths) and sento (public baths) and so OMO Kansai has included a sento-style bath area for hotel guests. The area features heated baths and a dry sauna perfect for refreshing between trips.

To mark the opening of the hotel, Hoshino Resorts is organising a press conference and hotel inspection for its two new hotels in Osaka – OMO Kansai Airport and OMO7 Osaka.
