EVA Orders Five More Boeing 787-9sTaiwanese airline EVA Air has decided to add five more Boeing 787-9s to its current fleet. The airline’s board of directors approved the move on March 13, 2023, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2025 and conclude in 2027. The new aircraft will allow EVA to expand its long-haul routes to Europe and North America. The airline will introduce its popular Premium Economy Class on these new planes, which will be added to the existing Royal Laurel and Economy options. This latest order will bring the total number of B787s in EVA’s fleet to 26, consisting of 13 B787-9s and 13 B787-10s.

EVA President Clay Sun said that adding the new planes was made to meet growing operational needs and make the airline’s flights even more attractive to passengers. “We will continue to offer two cabin choices on our Boeing 787-10s and use them for flights within Asia and to Oceania,” he added.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliners are designed with lighter composite construction, using carbon fibre, significantly reducing the aircraft’s overall weight and maintenance costs. In addition, EVA’s decision to use advanced GEnx engines will shrink fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by 25% compared to the power systems used on traditional wide-body aircraft. These high fuel efficiencies and range capabilities further equip EVA to enhance operational performance and passenger services.

Boeing also equips its 787s with advanced air filtration systems that improve cabin air quality. The fuselage is constructed with composite materials that make it more airtight. The cabin humidity equipment used on the 787s can be adjusted three-to-four times higher, making the inflight atmosphere less drying than other aircraft. Additionally, the cabin pressure on the 787s can be controlled to the degree that causes altitude to feel like the optimal 6,000 ft. instead of the standard 8,000 ft., reducing headaches and fatigue.

EVA operates a fleet of 85 aircraft comprising 77 passenger and eight cargo aircraft. The additional aircraft are expected to be delivered before 2025, including four Boeing 787-9s, seven Boeing 787-10s, and one Boeing 777F from previous orders.

With the addition of the new planes and the popular Premium Economy Class, EVA is poised to attract more passengers looking for comfort and affordability in their long-haul flights. The airline has a reputation for excellent cabin services, and these new additions will only enhance that reputation.

More information about EVA’s fleet and cabin services, routes, and booking choices is available on the airline’s website, www.EVAAir.com.

In conclusion, EVA’s decision to add more Boeing 787-9s and introduce Premium Economy Class is a significant move that reflects the airline’s commitment to enhancing its services and expanding its operations. The Boeing 787 Dreamliners’ advanced features, combined with EVA’s reputation for excellent cabin services, will surely attract more passengers to the airline.
