Carnival Cruise Line has officially welcomed the newest addition to their fleet, the Carnival Venezia. The ship, previously part of sister line Costa, was handed over to Carnival Captain Claudio Cupisti in a ceremony attended by leadership teams from both lines. The ship, which accommodates up to 5,145 guests and 1,393 Carnival crew members, will make her debut in May 2023 following a dry dock, featuring new Italian-inspired design elements and amenities.
One of the highlights of the Carnival Venezia is its Fun Italian Style, which can be seen in the ship’s architecture and entertainment offerings. Guests will be immediately immersed in Italian design as they board the ship, with an atrium modeled after Venice’s Piazza San Marco and a Lido deck inspired by the Italian Riviera. The ship will feature a variety of Italian-inspired restaurants and bars, including La Strada Grill with classic Italian street food, Mexitalian fusion restaurant Tomodoro, and Frizzante serving a variety of bubbly drinks.
The Carnival Venezia will also introduce new Italian-inspired entertainment spaces, such as the Gondola Lounge and Carnevale Bar & Lounge, celebrating the elegance of Venetian masquerades. The ship will also offer new activities like the Italian Street Party, where Little Italy meets Lido, and Italian-inspired youth programming for kids and teens. Carnival Venezia will also feature many of the popular activities and experiences guests enjoy on other Carnival ships, including Carnival Waterworks, Piano Bar 88, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, and Dr. Seuss Bookville.
Carnival Venezia will depart on her 15-day transatlantic Carnival Journeys sailing from Barcelona on May 29, 2023, and will begin year-round cruising from New York’s Manhattan Cruise Terminal on June 15, 2023. With 10 different cruise durations and 22 unique itineraries featuring visits to 25 ports across 14 countries, there are plenty of options for guests to choose from.
“We are so pleased to welcome Carnival Venezia to the fleet,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “A big thank you to everyone from our sister line Costa and all those within the Carnival family who will work to add the Carnival touches to this ship over the next two months.”
