As part of their preparation for the Olympics next year, some of Australia’s best swimmers arrived this week in New Caledonia for a 2-week training camp. Hosted by New Caledonia Tourism and the national carrier Aircalin, the team’s 2-hour journey from Brisbane went swimmingly and arrived in the South Pacific destination on the 15th of March.

The delegation comprises 19 members, including Cody Simpson, Emma McKeon, Kaylee McKeown, and Mack Horton, who are followed by millions of fans worldwide. The team’s arrival marks a significant milestone for the island nation, privileged to host such great sporting legends.

Swimming Australia will practice daily in the Ouen Toro and CNC pools and have a team-building day trip courtesy of New Caledonia Tourism, which includes a visit to Amédée Island located in the lagoon outside of Noumea.

This colaboration is a fantastic opportunity for New Caledonia to showcase the quality of its infrastructure and services to an international audience. Additionally, it offers the athletes an ideal and serene environment away from the crowds to relax outside of training sessions.

The local partners, including Aircalin, Ville de Nouméa, CNC, Coconut Cross Fit, Hilton Noumea La Promenade Residences, Ouen Toro Pool, Arc en Ciel Service, and Mary D, have been instrumental in facilitating the team’s smooth arrival and stay in the country.

As part of the collaboration, Swimming Australia will participate in various events and activities aimed at promoting tourism in the region. The partnership will be mutually beneficial, with New Caledonia’s stunning natural beauty, diverse culture, and world-class infrastructure making it an ideal destination for sports teams and tourists alike.

New Caledonia is Australia’s next-door neighbour (less than 3 hours from Sydney and 2 hours from Brisbane). An amazing archipelago and holiday destination thanks to its combination of unique Melanesian culture, exotic South Pacific charm, and cosmopolitan French chic. Surrounded by the largest lagoon in the world that has been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, New Caledonia is famous for its variety of landscapes, cultures, activities, and unique biodiversity.
