Yesterday, the Port of Auckland welcomed MSC Poesia, on her 119-day world cruise from Genoa, Italy.   This visit from MSC Cruises, the contemporary brand of the Cruise Division of MSC Group, marks only the second time MSC Cruises has brought one of its cruise ships to New Zealand, with MSC Magnifica having visited in 2019 and 2020.

Sister ship, MSC Magnifica also departed Genoa, Italy on 5 January for simultaneous world cruises – an industry first. Sailing together for the start of the cruises, the two ships parted ways at the edge of the Mediterranean for different routes around the globe. MSC Magnifica will reach New Zealand shores with a stop in Auckland on 8 March.

In honour of the maiden call to this city set amidst beautiful harbours, MSC Cruises organised events throughout the day to welcome visitors. MSC Cruises invited key media and travel agents to allow them to familiarise themselves with the unique MSC Cruises offering.

Lisa Teiotu, Commercial director of MSC Cruises Australia and New Zealand, said: “We are honoured to welcome MSC Poesia into New Zealand waters in what is a very special moment. At MSC Cruises we are committed to continuously enrich itineraries for our guests, allowing them to discover new destinations and cultures in a unique way.”

Departing Auckland the same day, MSC Poesia will make her maiden call in Sydney, Australia on 26 February, followed by Brisbane on 1 March, and finally Cairns on 3 March.
