Silversea Cruises®, the leading ultra-luxury and expedition cruise line, has become the first global cruise line to sail from Hong Kong in almost three years, with Silver Spirit® departing from the city on a 10-day voyage to Singapore on January 19.
Hong Kong authorities marked the momentous occasion with a water salute in Victoria Harbour, and a dragon and lion dance performance at the cruise terminal, presenting gifts to all guests on January 18.
“Silversea is thrilled to be welcomed in such a celebratory manner by Hong Kong Tourism Board, as Silver Spirit® arrived on her long-awaited return to one of Asia’s most iconic harbours on January 18. Spirits are at a record high today among our crew and our guests. It would have to be our most anticipated sailing in this region,” Silversea Managing Director Asia Pacific Adam Radwanski said.
“Silversea is investing heavily in Asia Pacific and has seen tremendous growth in this market, and we predict a long and successful return to these seas,” Radwanski said. We will have four ships in the Asia Pacific this 2023 season, reflecting a significant commitment to the region.
Silver Spirit® is our first ocean liner in Hong Kong in almost three years. It is so rewarding to the Silversea team after such a long wait.

Silver Spirit
We are determined to maintain Hong Kong’s position as a premier tourist destination and have positively taken the opportunity to introduce new or upgrade existing tourism offerings of diverse nature in the past few years.
As normal travel resumes, they are ready to give new excitements and fond memories to our friends visiting from around the world, including Silversea passengers arriving today. In 2023, Silversea will offer eight calls in Hong Kong, on voyages ranging from 10 to 16 days in duration, reconnecting affluent and always curious guests with the city’s authentic beauty.
The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr Kevin Yeung, said, “We are thankful that Silversea Cruises have cast a vote of confidence in Hong Kong by making an early return.” “Being a cosmopolitan city and a cultural melting pot of East and West, Hong Kong is a unique and not-to-be-missed destination of cruise itineraries in Asia.”
Not only does it signify the return of Hong Kong to the international cruise map, but also marks another key milestone in the recovery of our tourism industry.
