This morning Viking returned to Sydney for the first time since January 2020 as Viking Orion sailed into Sydney Harbour for the first time in 1,020 days. She is currently sailing Viking’s 17-day Komodo & the Australian Coast itinerary from Bali to Sydney after making her way down through Asia from Alaska.

After being absent from our shores for so many years, it was so special to be on board as we sailed through the heads and into Sydney Harbour,” she said.

Viking Orion is the first Viking ship to return to Australia this year, ahead of another two Viking ships this 2022/2023 Summer cruising season. Viking Mars, launched in May this year, arrives in Darwin next week and travels down the Queensland and New South Wales coastlines arriving in Sydney on 27 December before she embarks on a special New Year sailing between Sydney and Auckland. Then Viking Neptune, the newest ship in the Viking fleet and currently the cruise industry’s first ship to test the use of hydrogen power for onboard operations, will arrive in Australia in February 2023 as part of Viking’s World Cruise.
