The Opera House today announced a lavish New Year’s Eve experience featuring the gripping new production of Amadeus, unparalleled views of the world-famous fireworks, an opulent dining experience, and a post-show party to ring in the new year. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday 2 September.

Starring acclaimed Welsh actor Michael SheenAmadeus is a brand new production of Peter Shaffer’s Tony and Academy Award®-winning masterpiece that depicts the glorious artistic rivalry of two great classical composers – Salieri and Mozart. Combining theatre, opera and classical music with lavish costumes directed by Australian fashion house Romance Was Born, the production will be staged in the newly transformed Concert Hall from 27 December 2022 – 21 January 2023, as part of the Opera House’s year-long 50th anniversary celebrations.

The exclusive New Year’s Eve experiences include:

  • Pre-show dining experience – a two-course dinner of entrée and main followed by petit fours together with a two-hour beverage package, all served with spectacular views from the Concert Hall Northern Foyer. $392 per person. Price does not include performance ticket.
  • Post-show party – an unforgettable performance of Amadeus followed by canapés and three-hour beverage package. Party-goers enjoy exclusive access to both levels of the Concert Hall Northern Foyer and will ring in the new year with the world-famous midnight fireworks. $349 per person. Price does not include performance ticket.
  • Platinum – everything is taken care of with this all-inclusive package combining pre-show dinner, premium performance tickets, complimentary program, glass of champagne to be enjoyed at interval for the 9pm fireworks, and a post-show party with premium views of Sydney Harbour and midnight fireworks. $1479 per person. Price includes performance ticket.
