South Korea is now open to tourism and is welcoming travellers from Australia and New Zealand. Entering the country is convenient, with no mandatory quarantine or vaccinations required, however, a pre-departure RAT or PCR test and on-arrival PCR test are required as a precaution. Art Cube’ lets visitors take their first step back into travel, inspiring them to make their next trip to Korea,” said Director of the KTO Sydney, Insook Lee.
Running from 7 to 11 September 2022, it celebrates the resumption of international travel to Korea and coincides with the traditional Korean Thanksgiving Day, Chuseok, held during the lunar calendar’s harvest moon. The centrepiece of the event will be the 6m³ ‘cube’ installation.
“Following two years of lockdowns and postponed travel plans, the ‘Korea Welcomes You Guests can step inside the cube and be transported to locations such as the turquoise coast of Jeju Island, the historic Gwanghwamun Palace, or amongst a circle of traditional Ganggangsullae dancers. And if that’s not enough excitement, completing the event survey will put visitors in the draw to win a return flight ticket to Korea.
Sydney will launch the ‘Korea Welcomes You Media Art Cube’ experience in Sydney’s Darling Square next month. Those who register for the event in advance via Eventbrite can also collect a free gift on arrival. The inner walls of which will be illuminated by immersive 360° video projections of Korea’s iconic landscape, history and culture.
For visa-free entry, Australian passport holders must complete Korea’s K-ETA prior to arriving in the country. Furthermore, representatives from KTO Sydney will be on hand to answer questions and give advice to prospective travellers to South Korea.
