Sails in the Desert, Ayers Rock Resort’s five-star hotel, took home the award for “Best Superior Accommodation” at the AHA Awards in Hobart this week.
Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia, operators of Ayers Rock Resort, secured their place in the running following their hat trick at the NT Hospitality Awards in May, 2021 for Best Tourism Initiative (Ayers Rock Resort), Best Superior Accommodation – Sails in the Desert and Apprentice/Trainee of the Year – Marcellus Ak Kit, a graduate of NITA (National Indigenous Training Academy), who works in the F&B team at Sails.
Matthew Cameron-Smith (pictured), CEO of Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia, was on hand to collect the award saying, “We are proud of this recognition of the team at Ayers Rock Resort who, despite the recent challenges of the past two years, have gone above and beyond to consistently deliver a great guest experience.”
