World-leading luxury resorts operator Soneva is once again illuminating guests’ stays through its Soneva Stars calendar. From December 2021 to the end of January 2022, Soneva’s Maldives resorts will inspire a ‘lifetime of rare experiences’, thanks to their line-up of acclaimed chefs, wellness specialists, sporting heroes, cultural pioneers and so much more.
The ever-changing Soneva Stars programme is designed to inspire and enthral. From intimate dining experiences with culinary masters, to coaching by world-renowned players, or healing sessions with eminent therapists, the year-round calendar ensures that no stay at Soneva is ever quite the same.
This December and January, some of the world’s finest chefs will bring a feast of flavours and outstanding culinary artistry to Once Upon a Table at Soneva Fushi and So Engaging at Soneva Jani. Thailand’s Chef Ton will be at both resorts until December 15. Considered one of Thailand’s finest young culinary talents, he is credited with elevating Thai cuisine at his acclaimed Bangkok restaurant, Le Du. Kamilla Seidler, a multi-award-winning Danish chef with a keen social consciences, will be hosting dinners at Soneva Fushi between December 10 and 18, before heading to Soneva Jani from December 19 to 21. The UK’s John Burton-Race, a Michelin-starred chef, restaurateur and television personality, will bring his culinary flair to Soneva Jani on December 17 and 18, then will head to Soneva Fushi to host exclusive dinners over the festive period on December 23 and 25. The exceptionally talented Claire Clark will be at Soneva Fushi from December 20 to 26 – the only British recipient of the prestigious Master of Culinary Arts title, she was also awarded an MBE by Queen Elizabeth II for her commitment to her craft.
In the new year, Germany’s Tim Raue, star of Netflix’s Chef’s Table, is set to make a very welcome return to Soneva, hosting exclusive dining experiences at both Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani between January 4 and 16. And chef and cheese affineur, Frederic van Tricht will bring his extensive knowledge and impeccable taste to both Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani from January 6 to 16.
In the world of wellbeing for mind, body and soul, Soneva Soul will be welcoming a host of eminent wellness specialists to the Maldives. Yoga master, Pawan Kumar, a much-loved favourite among Soneva’s guests, has returned to host a long-term yoga and meditation residency at Soneva Fushi until May 31. Osteopathic specialist Hortensia Corredoira, another returning Soneva Star, will be at Soneva Jani from December 1 to 17, followed by Soneva Fushi from December 18 to May 6. From December 12 to January 8 at Soneva Fushi, then January 9 to February 28 at Soneva Jani, both mindfulness expert Claude Simarde and healer Jill Banwell will be hosting deeply healing sessions at Soneva Soul. Bio energy healer, Yash Shekhar, will be at Soneva Fushi from December 9 to 25, followed by the return of Roger Moore, hailed as one of the world’s top therapists, who will be at Soneva Jani from January 2 to 9, then Soneva Fushi from January 10 to February 15.
For guests looking to boost their performance and fitness, an array of world-renowned athletes will be on hand to coach them to the next level. The legendary Jonas Bjorkman, the former world number 1 tennis doubles player, will be hosting one-on-one coaching sessions at Soneva Fushi’s island court from December 15 to 27. December sees football hero Mikael Silvestre, hosting a soccer camp for Soneva’s younger guests. The former French international will be at Soneva Jani from December 10 to 18 and Soneva Fushi from December 18 to 26. Professional dancer, Stott Pilates trainer, celebrity fitness coach and founder of the Eastwood Movement Method, Monique Eastwood, will be at Soneva Jani and Soneva Fushi from January 17 to 24. And master fitness trainer Johnny Owen will continue his long-term residence at Soneva Fushi until January 13. A multi-faceted coach, he works with clients from all walks of life to support them in achieving their goals.
Lastly, in the realms of culture, art and discovery, Soneva’s eclectic line-up of visiting experts will inspire guests’ curiosity. Artist Bharti Kher will take up a residency at Soneva Art and Glass, Soneva Fushi, from December 5 to 22. Her works reposition the viewer’s relationship with objects, initiating a dialogue between metaphysical and material pursuits. Celebrated astronomer Dr Rick Fienberg will take guests on a journey through the constellations at Soneva’s observatories, home to the largest telescopes in the Indian Ocean, from December 10 to 26. And for those guests looking for a truly unique and unforgettable souvenir of their Soneva stay, Martina ‘Ama’ Amati will be at Soneva Jani from December 18 to January 6. A Bafta-winning filmmaker and specialist free diver, she will share the secrets of diving on just one breath, before capturing guests’ underwater experience on film for eternity.
