To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, Melco and the National Conditions Education (Macau) Association will co-organize the Second Melco Star Youth Talent Competition to advocate greater appreciation and understanding of Chinese culture, and performing arts, especially among youth. The competition will promote patriotism and love of Macau and the Motherland and help local youths understand the important milestones of the Communist Party of China’s 100-year history. All major primary and secondary schools, kindergartens and social groups across Macau will be invited to take part in the competition. Students can participate through Chinese-themed singing, dancing, instrumental performances, bands, recitals, Cantonese opera and martial arts and other original performance projects.

A press conference announcing the forthcoming event was held today at Studio City and attended by co-hosts Dr. Kent Wong, Chief Advisor of Melco Resorts & Entertainment; Mr. Raymond Lo, Senior Vice President, Property General Manager of Altira Macau & Mocha Clubs; Mr. Cai Weizhen, Honorary President of National Conditions Education Association (Macau) and Mr. Jack Wang, President of National Conditions Education Association (Macau).

Guests of Honor included Mr. Wang Yuwai, Assistant of Department of Publicity and Culture of CLO; Mr. Cheong Chi Hin, Head of Education Development of Director of Education and Youth Development Bureau of Macau SAR; Mr. Wang Gang, Head of Cross Strait Relations Association – Macau Region; Mr. Chan Kin Pong, Deputy Secretary–General of the Chinese Educators’ Association of Macau and Mr. Xu Qing, Head of Artistic Judge of Melco Star Youth Talent Competition.

Advocating Chinese culture and developing a greater understanding of the Motherland amongst colleagues and the community through our ‘Splendors of China’ nationalistic learning series continues to be one of our top priorities. Through the Second Melco Star Youth Talent Competition, we hope to inspire and showcase the vitality of the new generation of Macau. Following the warm support received from the community for our inaugural event, we are confident that the forthcoming competition will attract even broader, and more enthusiastic participation to further instill patriotism.”

Mr. Jack Wang, President of National Conditions Education Association (Macau), said, “The Melco Star Youth Talent Competition is a specially curated cultural gem for Macau created by Melco and National Conditions Education Association. Aside from enhancing feelings of patriotism amongst youth, I believe the competition will showcase the new vitality of the younger generation of the past 22 years since the handover, and advocate the success of the “One Country, Two Systems” constitutional principle, as well as that of Macau and China.”

To support the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, Melco has prioritized national education and developed a vast array of programs aimed towards instilling national pride through education and awareness. Exciting initiatives for Melco’s 15,000 colleagues instilling a greater understanding of the Motherland include the Melco Splendors of China Passport – a curriculum comprising mandatory courses on Chinese culture, history, and idioms. Elective activities include visits to national exhibits and online courses on Chinese fine arts and cultural education. Upon completion of the passport activities, colleagues will be eligible for entry to a prize draw for a free trip for Red Tourism sponsored by the company.

Since launching last month, Splendors of China Passport has been warmly received by colleagues. To date, more than 3,500 colleagues have participated in online courses, over 5,300 colleagues have attended seminars to learn about national conditions, and nearly 6,000 colleagues have participated in nationalistic exhibition visits. Further Splendors of China initiatives include Melco Han Hero – 4th Macau Youth Chinese Knowledge Competition the Spirit Sharing Session of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
