SEXY CRAB is reimaging a glamorous romantic date for two at The Bund on a decadent culinary journey of gourmet delicacies at Hong Kong’s acclaimed crab specialty restaurant at K11 MUSEA in Tsim Sha Tsui East.  “Old Shanghai Detour at SEXY CRAB” is a nostalgic ‘virtual’ experience of ultimate gastronomic indulgence spotlighting caviar and sea cucumber along with its signature crab meat and roe on a 6-course menu for two priced HK$788 per person.

Presented from 1 August to 15 October 2021, the exquisite menu of three appetisers, two main courses and dessert is curated especially for two guests, and uniquely introduces exclusive new delicacies and desserts to the menu along with the brand’s signature crab showcase – complete with a glitzy bottle of BOTTEGA Prosecco for an unforgettable ‘one-and-only’ gourmet celebration.

“Old Shanghai Detour at SEXY CRAB” starts with a legendary appetiser from Shanghai’s 1930s hey-day, Sexy Caviar Blini, with 10g of caviar from renowned French caviar brand Caviar House & Prunier, which is doubly sumptuous paired with SEXY CRAB’s signature crab roe in its ‘golden ratio’ of 42% female and 58% male roe.

A second starter, Tycoon Cigar, is a tribute to the cigar as an icon of so-called “Shanghai Glamour” – an intensely savoury deep-fried “Cigar Roll” stuffed with Matsuba crab meat, mentaiko and shrimp paste, magically crafted as a cigar and ashtray look-alike.  Instagrammably presented on an ‘ashtray’ plate, the amazingly realistic work of culinary art even has plum salt condiment imitating cigar ash, and a “cigar cutter” for diners to cut the shrimp cigars for sharing.

The menu continues with another icon of the era, Plenty of Fish, a ‘secret recipe’ seafood broth of yellow croaker gently simmered for 8-10 hours with the decadent addition of a 50-50 perfect blend of hairy crab meat and roe.

Main course of The Golden Era continues the extraordinarily artistic showcase, with premium top-grade sea cucumber from Kanto in Japan, a famous specialty renowned for its soft, smooth tenderness, stuffed with crab roe and shrimp paste, and ultimate pairing with house-made abalone sauce to enrich the umami and balance the strong crab roe flavour.  For weight-watchers, sea cucumber is also remarkably weight-loss-friendly, high in protein yet very low in calories and fat.

A second main course of SEXY CRAB is the ultimate signature indulgence of SEXY CRAB – embracing the best of 12 crabs as a DIY dining experience for guests to marry portions and condiments as they please, served with five elegant plates of decadently rich, creamy chicken-crab broth, crab leg, roe, crab oil and a delicate teapot of soy sauce.  A topping of crab roe is precisely measured in ‘golden ratios’ of 50/50 crab meat and crab oil, and 42%/58% ratio of female and male roe.

To complete the decadent journey, dessert of Lusciously Yours is a house-made creation of Almond Tofu Jelly, seemingly humble as a traditional Chinese dessert beneficial for the skin, yet with elegant glass-bowl plating for a modern tweak – and surprise stuffing with bird’s nest, topped with gold leaf for a luxurious and memorable finale.

Adding final fun to the journey, guests can also dabble with the CBD (cannabidiol) trend with a new cocktail The Sexy Mojito (HK$108).  This east-meets-west version of the famous Cuban cocktail has Huadiao wine and butterfly pea flower juice replacing rum, and soda mixed exotically with plum and lily flower, along with traditional mojito mint leaves and lime – plus CBD for a calming, relaxing chill.

SEXY CRAB is located at Shop 401A, 4/F, K11 MUSEA, 18 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui East, Hong Kong; with a chic twist on crab tradition, the new dining destination is also dressed to impress – in an exclusive, intimate, retro vintage, 23-seat, 530 sq.ft. haven of dark mahogany décor and open kitchen, complete with grandiose mirrors reflecting whimsical neon lighting and a classic 1930s Shanghai-style ‘Long Bar’.

SEXY CRAB opens daily from Monday to Thursday, 12 noon to 3 pm and 6 pm to 10 pm; and Friday to Sunday, 12 noon to 10 pm.
