Following the great success of their first five Australian domestic tours, Bunnik Tours are adding yet another exciting destination to their list – western Victoria!

The Highlights of Western Victoria tour encompasses 13 exciting days spent discovering the many gems this region has to offer, from its rich gold mining history to its breathtaking landscapes and world famous coastline.

The tour commences in Melbourne, Victoria’s vibrant capital city, known for its quirky laneways and decadent arcades. Leaving the city behind, it then ventures to Daylesford, a favourite escape for many Victorians’ looking to wind down. Here guests will enjoy a wine tour and have some time to explore the town.

Ballarat and Bendigo are two of Victoria’s most famous gold mining towns, founded way back in the mid-1800s. Stepping back in time, the tour visits the open air museum of Sovereign Hill, where guests will have time to explore the many buildings and streets depicting what life was like back in the 1850s. It’s also the perfect opportunity to snap some photos with the costumed staff and try your hand at gold panning!

Next, it’s time to discover the mighty Murray River! Located on the border of New South Wales, Echuca sits on the edge of the Murray, and the tour group will get to watch the grassy banks of the river pass them by as they cruise on the PS Emmylou. There’s also the chance to explore more of the local ecosystem with a visit to Barmah National Park, home to the world’s largest river red gum forest, with trees as old as 500 years!

Venturing south, the tour follows the Silo Art Trail viewing the amazingly decorated wheat silos before arriving in Halls Gap, gateway to the scenic Grampians National Park. Covering some 1,600 square kilometres, the Grampians are home to breathtaking sandstone mountain ranges, towering waterfalls, a dazzling variety of fauna and flora, Aboriginal rock art and some of the best walks in Victoria.

En route to the world famous Great Ocean Road, the group will visit the Arboretum in Dunkeld, the Sir Reginald Ansett Transport Museum and the fascinating geological formation of Tower Hill. Arriving in Warrnambool, it’s time for a delicious dinner at the renowned Pippies by the Bay restaurant, before spending three days discovering the many highlights this iconic stretch of road has to offer. This time will see guests marvelling at the unique coastlines, discovering quaint country towns, delighting in delectable local produce, exploring rainforests and visiting the famous Bells Beach. Before returning to Melbourne, it’s all aboard the Q Train from Drysdale to Queenscliff, marvelling at the spectacular scenery while savouring a delicious lunch.
