Ozzie is Australia’s newest personality for children, launching a fun and engaging series of educational videos on YouTube, which are aimed primarily at ages two to eight.  In addition to a new episode on COVID-19 released today, the down-to-earth Ozzie series encourages children to learn about a wide range of topics, including: surfing; garbage trucks and construction diggers; community helpers, such as firewomen; science experiments; the real-life Australian cattle dog which inspires the iconic and popular animated character, ‘Bluey’.

Scott Richmond, a graphic designer, and Dylan Bray, a stay-at-home dad and freelance producer, are the duo behind the new YouTube channel.  Full of excitement and energy, the videos have already featured guest appearances from world champion surfer Sally Fitzgibbons, ‘The Living Room’ host, Barry Du Bois, and Sixers cricket star, Jack Edwards, with more to be revealed.

“We saw an opportunity to create an Australian personality for children, with Aussie-born content that kids can relate to.  Seeing Australian icons like Sally and Baz get on board with Ozzie has been incredible.  We’re excited about what’s next – what we can achieve with these educational, Australian videos and we hope that children love them as much as we do,” said Scott, aka Ozzie.

Scott and Dylan began creating the educational children’s videos earlier this year when they found they had ample spare time on their hands due to the current pandemic.  The pair, who have children of their own at school and in pre-school, are passionate about the importance of managing screen time for children and finding quality content that is not only engaging, but informative.

“While COVID-19 has left many families with significant income loss and employment upheaval, we have used the time to give back to the community and bring some entertainment to children, especially those who are spending more time at home.”

Providing parents with guilt free screen time, the videos offer an abundance of information and facts for children, as well as takeaway skills they can use at home.  The videos are entwined with literacy components in the form of visuals and topic words, where children have to find ‘Ozzie’ icons, such as Australian animals and landmarks, which are hidden throughout the graphics.

“We are really excited about the level of positive feedback we have received from the initial series of Ozzie videos. We’ve had an incredible response that we simply didn’t expect.  Now, we’re focused on creating the next range of videos in the pipeline, which will also feature a few more high-profile Australian guest appearances, so watch this space!”
