Emirates landed at Perth Airport last night – providing the airline’s the first passenger service into the city since the UAE Federal Government’s restrictions on passenger services in March. Flight EK420 departed Dubai at 03:00, arriving in Perth at 17:50. On 18 June, the outbound service EK421 departed Perth at 22:20, arriving in Dubai at 05:20 the following day. Travel restrictions remain in place and the airline has implemented a comprehensive set of measures to ensure the safety of its customers and employees on the ground and in the air. They include the distribution of complimentary hygiene kits containing masks, gloves, hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes. As well as Sydney and Melbourne Emirates now offers flights between Dubai and 16 cities: Perth, Brisbane Bahrain, Manchester, Zurich, Vienna, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Dublin, New York JFK, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta, Taipei and Hong Kong. There has been no mention when Adelaide will rejoin the network. Travellers flying between Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas can connect through Dubai but remember travel restrictions remain in place at most destinations. Getting travel insurance is another hurdle.
