The bi-annual Switzerland Travel Mart entered its 20th year this year with a showcase of the country’s wine offering and autumn activities.
Welcoming just over 460 buyers from 56 countries, more than 17,000 meetings took place over the 3-day period from 20-23 Oct in the lakeside city of Lucerne.
The five buyers from Australia – Bec Johnson, Flight Centre; Leo Adams, Holidays on Location; Megan Thackray, Albatross; Monika O’Reilly, APT; and Sarah Newman, Entire Travel – met with 360 Swiss tourism providers to learn about the country’s new offerings and touring potentials, especially during the autumn season and through the country’s wine regions.
“Presented to attendees as “a new face of Switzerland”, the once lesser-known season and its activities were finally given the much deserved spotlight,” said Director of Switzerland Tourism ANZ, Livio Goetz. “Agents can now more confidently sell Switzerland in the autumn and visitors can look forward to a host of new activities and experiences to enjoy.”
Prior to attending STM in Lucerne, the Aussie agents visited Basel, the country’s culture capital, where they enjoyed its many art museums, riverside activities and the quirky old town.
