Last month at the Magellan Travel Conference night-of-nights, 5 individuals from within Magellan member agencies were recognised and awarded for their outstanding contribution in various award categories. Winners included:
- Abbey Alvin of Coopers Travel Centre was awarded the Rising Star of the Year.
- Julie-Anne Major of Epping Travel was awarded Leisure Consultant of the Year.
- Shareen Shepherd of World Corporate Travel was awarded Corporate Travel Consultant of the Year.
- Kathy Gambell of Encore Journeys was awarded Specialist of the Year.
- And the 2019 Loyalty Award was presented to Tracey Fidone, Hawthorn Travel & Cruise.
This week, award sponsor Air New Zealand released plans for the Award Winners Journey in 2020 and its looking to be an incredible itinerary in the making. Starting off the journey, participants will travel in Air New Zealand’s award-winning Premium Economy between Australia and Auckland. On the ground, accommodation hits a high at each of the following locations:
- Auckland: Winners will stay at ‘So Sofitel’, Aucklands newest five-star property.
- Christchurch: In Christchurch, winners will stay at ‘The George’. The George has been awarded New Zealand’s Leading Boutique Hotel by the World Travel Awards 2012 – 2018.
- Queenstown: Winners will stay at ‘The Rees’ which has just been awarded New Zealand’s Best Hotel for the 3rd consecutive year at the 2019 HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence.
Although full details of the journey are yet to be released, award winners are set to experience some of New Zealand’s finest. At first glance of the itinerary draft, Magellan Travel’s General Manager, Andrew Macfarlane commented “Year-after-year we continue to seek unique itineraries which offer high-end, luxurious, all-inclusive experiences to recognise the contributions of our award winners. The journey in 2020 will again be one to remember and I look forward to hosting this”.
