Phuket is entering a significant new phase of economic development, with resilient tourism fundamentals, substantial international investment and an increasingly sophisticated pipeline of hospitality, retail and residential projects accelerating the island’s transformation.

According to new research from C9 Hotelworks, Phuket recorded 6.13 million international passenger arrivals between January and September 2026, generating approximately THB400 billion in tourism revenue. International visitors accounted for 92% of total tourism revenue, underlining the continued importance of overseas demand.

Beyond tourism, however, the scale and diversity of investment is defining Phuket’s next chapter. Central Festival is undergoing a substantial 40% expansion, reinforcing the island’s position as a regional retail and lifestyle hub.

ICONPHUKET, backed by a THB10 billion investment, will anchor the proposed THB50 billion Synthesis Ark Phuket development. The wider mixed-use project will incorporate retail, entertainment, hotels, luxury residences, offices, education and wellness facilities

In the luxury hospitality and residential sector, the collaboration between Minor International and Gardens of Eden will create a fully integrated community centred around Asia’s first Minor Reserve Collection hotel, complemented by a 5,000-square-metre wellness centre.

“Phuket’s story in 2026 is about more than tourism growth. It is about the maturation of an entire destination economy, underpinned by international capital, global brands and a new generation of integrated developments reshaping the future of the island,” said Bill Barnett, Managing Director, C9 Hotelworks.

According to C9 Hotelworks, 5,517 hotel keys across 30 pipeline properties are scheduled to open from 2026. Notably, 85% of pipeline hotel keys are branded, highlighting growing confidence among international hospitality operators. Bang Tao and Cherngtalay account for 22% of incoming hotel supply.

Phuket currently has approximately 45,027 residential units for sale across 403 projects, with condominiums accounting for 83% of supply, the research adds.

Branded residences represent 11% of existing residential units, while a further 2,004 branded units are projected from 2027 onwards. Bang Tao and Cherngtalay account for 50% of branded residential supply, reinforcing their position at the centre of Phuket’s emerging luxury property market.

The rise in luxury real estate in Phuket is attracting new global players to the market also with ThirdHome, a US-based luxury home exchange network, expanding into Thailand to work with branded residences developers and home owners.
