Finnair will start commercial flights to five regional centers, Kajaani, Kemi, Kokkola, Joensuu and Jyväskylä at the end of February 2028, when the current PSO traffic to these five cities ends.
Schedules for the commercial flights have been specially designed to provide good connections onwards from Finnair’s Helsinki hub, with a consistent schedule that remains the same from one day to the next. The flights will be operated with ATR aircraft.
“We take our role as Finland’s gateway to the world seriously, and from spring 2028 onwards, we will connect these cities to the world via Helsinki Airport,” says Finnair’s CEO Turkka Kuusisto.
“Profitable commercial operations are possible with effective schedule and aircraft utilization planning, and by focusing on enabling connections via Helsinki. Multi-stop flights enabling serving two or more cities with one flight.”
