Australasia’s premium locally owned and operated global rail wholesaler, International Rail, has opened bookings for 2027 Swiss scenic rail services, including the highly sought‑after Glacier Express Excellence Class and the Bernina Express, now available to book up to 12 months in advance.
International Rail owner and managing director Jonathan Hume said demand for the premium Glacier Express Excellence Class continues to grow, with just 20 guaranteed window seats per carriage making availability extremely limited, particularly during peak travel periods.
“In order to avoid client disappointment, we recommend securing these highly sought‑after seat reservations early. This luxury experience offers each passenger a window seat, five‑star dining, onboard amenities and a personalised concierge. It remains one of the most popular rail journeys in Switzerland, especially given its limited capacity,” Hume said.

Bookings are also open for the Bernina Express, which travels through spectacular Alpine scenery along the UNESCO World Heritage‑listed Rhaetian Railway. All classes are available up to 12 months in advance.
The Swiss Travel Pass continues to be an excellent addition to any Swiss rail itinerary. It covers travel on Switzerland’s extensive rail, bus and boat network, including the Glacier Express and Bernina Express routes, although panoramic seat reservations and applicable supplements are additional.
To complement this, International Rail also offers the Swiss Hotel‑to‑Hotel luggage transfer service. Hume said the add‑on is particularly beneficial for travellers exploring Switzerland domestically and pairs well with the Swiss Travel Pass.
“By including services such as these, International Rail is further strengthening its position in the market as a reputable, locally owned Australian one‑stop‑shop for agents, enabling them to create a complete rail holiday experience for their clients.”
