Gold at the 2026 Tasmanian Hospitality Awards adds to growing recognition for historic waterfront property

Stanley’s historic Bond Store is celebrating another major accolade this week, taking home Gold in the Best Boutique and/or Self Contained Boutique Venue category at the 2026 Tasmanian Hospitality Awards for Excellence.

The award recognises the Bond Store’s unique combination of heritage, considered design and boutique accommodation, following the transformation of the 1859 stone building on Stanley’s historic waterfront into two luxury self-contained apartments.

Set beneath Stanley’s iconic Nut, the Bond Store has been carefully restored while retaining the character and craftsmanship of its historic structure, creating a distinctive stay that combines its maritime heritage with contemporary comfort.

The hospitality award follows another significant accolade for the property, with the Bond Store recently winning the Restoration/Renovation – Heritage Listed or Period Building – Commercial Award at the 2026 Master Builders Tasmania Awards for Excellence. The award recognised the extensive restoration work undertaken by Jai Quilliam Building and the specialist team involved in bringing the historic building back to life.

The 18-month restoration involved complex heritage work, including extensive traditional stonemasonry and the careful preservation of the building’s original stonework and timber beams, while adapting the 1859 structure for contemporary luxury accommodation.

The Master Builders Tasmania win also sees the Bond Store progress to the 2026 Master Builders Australia National Excellence in Building & Construction Awards, where it will compete in the National Commercial Historical Restoration/Renovation category.
