Take your taste buds on a gastronomic journey across destinations inspired by the global footprint of Mandarin Oriental. Exclusively from now till 22 November 2026, the Lobby Lounge at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore presents a Curious Traveller teatime, showcasing an ensemble of savouries and sweets infused with flavours of the world from Asia to Europe, alongside a special add-on Little Curious Travellers set with assorted doughnuts, ham and cheese sandwich, and macaron decoration kit, tailored for families with children.
The afternoon tea map begins in Singapore with laksa, the quintessential local noodle dish known for its rich, coconut-based broth. Reimagined as a chilled somen, the classic is packed with the fragrant laksa notes and paired with the umami richness of succulent King crab. Next, journey to the spice paradise of Indonesia, where an aromatic blend of spices, rempah, takes centre stage in a Wagyu beef puff. The journey continues into the Land of Smiles, Thailand, with flavourful green curry chicken, before moving onwards to China, where the savoury richness of Chinese preserved sausage in sandwich form captures the essence of the country’s culinary heritage. Evoking the delicate flavours of Japanese cuisine, a salmon tartlet brightened with citrusy yuzu notes brings a pleasant finish to the savoury journey through Japan.
The afternoon tête-à-tête ensues with the scone selection, featuring the nutty character of Gruyère cheese, one of Switzerland’s beloved cheeses. A sweet interplay follows into Spain, where the earthy and delicately floral notes of black lemon, earl grey and bergamot are complemented by decadent chocolate. The fruity nuances of Japan’s strawberries and Philippines’s tropical medley of banana and passion fruit bring a vibrant and refreshing touch to the sweet selections. The nutty pâte à choux transports the palate to Italy, showcasing pistachio, a signature ingredient in Italian cuisine. The journey concludes in the floral landscapes of France, where lavender is presented in the form of a mascarpone and vanilla roulade, and the United Kingdom, where the sweet essence of elderflower is captured in a refreshing apple granita.
