Saffire Freycinet has been awarded Three MICHELIN Keys for 2026, elevating Tasmania’s globally celebrated luxury lodge into the highest echelon of international hospitality recognition and reaffirming its position among the world’s most exceptional places to stay.
The latest MICHELIN Guide announcement sees Saffire Freycinet move from Two MICHELIN Keys in 2025 to the coveted Three-Keys distinction in 2026. Within Australia, only three properties have achieved this highest classification, with Saffire joining Southern Ocean Lodge and Lizard Island Resort as the nation’s Three MICHELIN Key recipients and among an elite collection of only 155 hotels worldwide to hold MICHELIN Guide’s highest hotel distinction.
The announcement comes at a significant moment for Saffire, with the highly anticipated opening of The Saffire Jewel Private Villa scheduled in the coming months. Representing the most significant evolution of the property since its opening, the private residence will further elevate Saffire’s offering while remaining true to the principles that underpin the MICHELIN recognition: exceptional service, a profound sense of place and experiences that leave a lasting impression long after departure.
Introduced by the MICHELIN Guide in 2024, the MICHELIN Keys recognise hotels and lodges that deliver the most outstanding travel experiences through exceptional service, architecture, character, design and a profound sense of place. Three MICHELIN Keys represent the pinnacle of hotel recognition, reserved for properties considered extraordinary destinations in their own right and capable of delivering a stay of remarkable distinction.
The recognition places Saffire among an elite collection of global luxury properties while highlighting Tasmania’s growing reputation as a destination capable of delivering experiences that stand alongside the world’s most acclaimed hotels and lodges.

The MICHELIN recognition also highlights the strength of Tasmania’s luxury accommodation sector. Federal Group sister properties MACq 01 Hotel and The Henry Jones Art Hotel have again been awarded One MICHELIN Key, maintaining their place among Australia’s recognised luxury hotels.
