Some of Queensland’s most recognised tourism names will line up alongside emerging businesses, regional experiences, major events and community-led operators after the finalists for the 2026 Queensland Tourism Awards were announced today.

This year’s finalist field showcases the extraordinary breadth of Queensland’s visitor economy, spanning accommodation, attractions, festivals, tours, food and drink experiences, visitor services, major events and destination marketing from almost every corner of the state.

Among the finalists are Cape York Camping Punsand Bay in the state’s far north, Cunnamulla Fella Visitor Information Centre and WWII Secret Base Charleville in the Outback, Great Keppel Island Hideaway and Rockynats 06 in Central Queensland, Iconic Whitsunday Adventures and InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef in the Whitsundays, through to The Calile Hotel in Brisbane and major Gold Coast experiences and events including Dreamworld, Blues on Broadbeach 2026 and the ASICS Gold Coast Marathon.

The finalists have earned their place after an extensive judging program culminating in deliberations last week, with entrants required to reach a minimum scoring benchmark to progress.

QTIC CEO Natassia Wheeler said being named a finalist was an achievement worth celebrating.

“The finalist list is a snapshot of just how diverse and dynamic Queensland tourism is,” Wheeler said.

“We have major international drawcards alongside small regional businesses, community organisations, cultural experiences, events, accommodation providers and operators who are creating exceptional experiences right across Queensland.

“To reach this stage, entrants have had to demonstrate a high standard through their submission and the judging process. Being named a finalist means they have earned their place among some of the best tourism businesses and experiences in the state.”

The Queensland Tourism Awards recognise excellence against established industry standards, meaning finalist status does not automatically result in a medal.

“That is part of what makes these Awards so meaningful,” Wheeler said.

“A Gold, Silver or Bronze is not simply awarded because a business finishes first, second or third. It has to meet the standard, and that gives every medal real weight.”

Wheeler said the Awards were also about much more than what happens on the Gala night.

“The Queensland Tourism Awards are a year-long industry development program,” Wheeler said.

“Preparing an entry asks businesses to look closely at how they operate, the visitor experience they provide, their achievements and where they can continue to improve.

“That process of reflection and benchmarking is enormously valuable. The Gala is where we celebrate the achievements, but the benefits of participating extend well beyond one night.”

The finalists will discover who has taken home the state’s highest tourism honours when the 2026 Queensland Tourism Awards Gala is held on Friday 6 November on the Gold Coast, as part of Tourism Week.

The Gala will bring together tourism operators, industry leaders, partners and supporters for a night celebrating the people and businesses behind Queensland’s visitor economy.

“Queensland tourism is built by people who put enormous energy, creativity and pride into what they do,” Wheeler said.

“November will be our chance to bring the industry together, celebrate that work and recognise those who are setting the benchmark for tourism excellence.”
