Sydney Fish Market is entering its first spring/summer entertaining season in its new home, giving groups a new Sydney waterfront destination for Christmas celebrations, with sweeping views across Blackwattle Bay.
Set within the Sydney Fish Market, the new Sydney Seafood School houses a state-of-the-art auditorium seating 66 guests, and a contemporary cooking space, that offers hands-on cooking experiences for 60 people.
The Ngara event space and feature oyster bar has panoramic views of Blackwattle Bay and abundant natural light. Ngara is a spectacular setting for corporate events, long lunches and social functions from 24 to 130 people, with an in-house chef and events team.
With absolute waterfront views and city skyline panoramas, the open-air Sunrise Terrace (pictured) is ideal for large-scale seated lunches and dinners for up to 300 guests, or stand-up cocktail receptions for up to 450 guests.
Opening directly onto Civic Plaza and the Eastern waterfront boardwalk, the Garagula Room is perfect for small meetings and events. It is located on street level, overlooking Blackwattle Bay. In Gadigal language, Garagula means “Ebb and flow of the tide”, reflecting its waterfront location. Garagula can accommodate 16 people in a boardroom layout or private dining.
Whether your event is an intimate dinner for 16, a cocktail party for 400, or a private cooking class, Sydney Fish Market offers a unique alternative to a traditional restaurant booking or office Christmas party.
At the heart of every event is exceptional catering built around the very best local seafood. Menus, designed in collaboration with leading Sydney caterers Katering, celebrate the quality and diversity of Australian seafood, giving guests a genuine ocean-to-plate experience.
That commitment to quality extends to the drinks list. Sydney Seafood School was recently awarded Best Wine List in a Function and Events Venue at the prestigious NSW Sommeliers Wine List Awards, recognising a carefully curated selection designed to complement its seafood-led menus.
Sydney Seafood School Manager Sally Webb said end-of-year events are an opportunity for teams to reconnect and celebrate, with groups looking for more interactive and memorable ways to mark the occasion.
“Events are about bringing people together, and cooking naturally creates interaction and gives groups an activity to do together rather than simply sitting around a table,” said Webb.
“We’re so excited to welcome our first festive guests to celebrate together while overlooking Blackwattle Bay and experiencing the atmosphere of the new Sydney Fish Market.”
Throughout December 2026, all events and private cooking classes booked at Sydney Seafood School will include a complimentary cocktail for guests on arrival, designed by award-winning cocktail bar Maybe Sammy, adding a celebratory touch to end-of-year festivities.
Alongside event bookings, a broader calendar of public cooking classes, guest chef appearances and seasonal programming offers even more ways to experience the venue.
