Eva has opened the doors to Richmond House, its flagship showroom and third retail home. Spanning 408sqm across two levels on a prominent corner of Church Street, the new space marks the most significant retail milestone in the brand’s history.
Approaching its tenth year in business, Eva has grown from a mattress in a box to a flagship address in one of Melbourne’s most iconic design destinations. Following Carlton House and Surry Hills House, Richmond House is the most complete expression of the Eva world to date, with room to display the entire product range, greater capacity for community and events, and a generous, unhurried experience that maintains the sense of home and comfort at the heart of the brand.
While Eva’s earlier showrooms deliberately sat outside the obvious furniture districts, Richmond House places the brand in the heart of the category. Church Street has been home to some of the furniture industry’s biggest names for decades, with Richmond House placing Eva alongside the design and furniture brands that have long defined the precinct.

“Richmond House is important because it’s the culmination of our last ten years at Eva, brought together into one space. It takes on a new format for our stores, one where the feeling of home remains but speaks in a different language to heritage spaces, more confident, more mature and more contemporary. We hope Richmond House continues to inspire Melbourne’s design community to see that you can create a home no matter what the four walls around you look like. It’s what you do with the space that matters, and feeling cosy and welcome is what counts,” says Eva Co Founder Amanda Niu.
Richmond House marks the third store In Addition has designed for Eva, extending the studio’s residential approach to retail through a new response to site and context. With the Richmond site offering a more anonymous shell, the design turns inward as an ode to inner city loft and warehouse living, creating a more elevated and contemporary expression of home. A series of loosely defined rooms unfold from a shared entry threshold, inviting a slower, more intuitive way of moving through the space.
A repositioned entry opens onto a new internal courtyard, creating a deliberate circuit breaker between the bustle of Church Street and the softer environment within. Beyond, the previously enclosed staircase has been widened and aligned with the entry, creating a more welcoming connection between levels and a gradual transition from the immediacy of retail towards the familiarity and ease of a home.
New beams and columns bring a more human scale to the former open showroom, establishing distinct living, dining and kitchen settings for hosting and entertaining. On the ground floor, a single step creates subtle separation between the kitchen and living room and the guest bedroom, home to the Slideaway Sofa Bed, and bedroom beyond. A window slit beside the staircase brings additional light into the space while maintaining visibility through to the rest of the showroom.
Upstairs, the mood becomes more intimate, with quieter enclosed rooms, and a conversation pit designed to encourage lingering exchange and connection. Textured finishes, polished matte concrete, timber flooring and darker walnut joinery bring a warmer, more cocooning character throughout.
“As with its predecessors, the design eschews the conventions of a typical showroom in favour of an environment that feels lived in, approachable and quietly refined. Here, Eva’s collection is presented as it is intended to be experienced: furniture that supports the rituals of living well and living simply, encountered not as product, but as part of a life already being lived,” says Josh McLean, Director of In Addition.
As Eva’s flagship showroom, Richmond House will also be used to test new furniture pieces with the public before they officially launch, using real life feedback to finetune products and ensure each piece serves a real purpose, solves a real problem and is made to last. This customer centred approach reflects Eva’s B Corp commitment to considering how its decisions benefit people, community and the planet.
A dedicated materials library on the first floor will support appointments and product consultations, with interior design support also forming part of the broader showroom experience.
Richmond House brings Eva’s mission to help more people feel at home into its most elevated physical expression yet, continuing the brand’s approach to Thoughtful everyday and slow design, delivered fast.
Eva reached 100,000 customers in 2026 and has opened three showrooms in three years.
