Walking the decks of the Titanic and witnessing the spectacle of gladiatorial games in ancient Rome are among the extraordinary journeys awaiting guests at Alma Resort Cam Ranh with the introduction of a new immersive historical experience.

The 30-hectare beachfront resort has teamed up with virtual reality experience destination brand Awra to offer two cinematic journeys that transport guests into pivotal worlds from the past.

Rather than watching history unfold on a screen, guests don headsets and move freely through a physical space while seeing and hearing detailed virtual environments around them. Spatial movement, sound and cinematic storytelling combine to create the sensation of actually being inside the story.

Headlining the new attraction is “Titanic: Echoes from the Past”, an immersive journey that takes guests from the ocean floor back to the day the Titanic sank. Guests explore the legendary ship, walking its corridors and decks as the story of its final voyage unfolds around them. The experience is designed to convey the scale of the Titanic as well as the human and emotional dimensions of one of history’s most enduring stories.

A second experience, “Gladiator: The Legendary Arena”, transports guests to the height of the Roman Empire. Guests enter ancient Rome’s famed Colosseum and witness gladiatorial games amid the sights and sounds of the arena, with the spectacle placed within its wider historical and cultural context.

Moving beyond conventional virtual reality attractions centred on gaming, the two experiences combine education with cinematic storytelling. Their content is produced by Paris-based experiential VR company Eclipso, which operates 10 locations globally, drawing on expert research to recreate historical worlds in detail.

The experiences are suitable for guests aged eight and above, allowing children, parents and grandparents to embark on the same journey together. In addition to English, the experiences are also available in Vietnamese, French and Spanish.

“Alma has always sought to create experiences that families can share and remember long after their holiday is over,” said Alma Resort managing director Herbert Laubichler-Pichler. “There is something remarkable about being able to walk through a moment in history rather than simply read about it or watch it on a screen. One moment you’re on holiday here at Alma overlooking Long Beach and the next you’re standing aboard the Titanic or surrounded by the roar of ancient Rome.”

The addition further broadens Alma’s extensive family recreation offering, which already encompasses a 6000sqm water park with a lazy river, wave pool and slides, 12 swimming pools cascading towards the beach, a 75-seat cinema, kids’ and youth clubs, an 18-hole mini golf course, golf simulator, Alma Technology Experience Center and onsite sustainable farm.

The independently owned resort also offers ‘Alma Discovery Camp’, featuring interactive farm visits and a dedicated museum, as part of its focus on experiences that combine recreation, discovery and learning.

Commanding 30 hectares overlooking Long Beach on Vietnam’s Cam Ranh peninsula, Alma features oversized suites and villas, 14 restaurants and bars, a 13-treatment-room spa, convention centre, amphitheatre, gymnasium and yoga room, sports facilities and an ‘Alma Mart’ mini supermarket.

Alma was named the No. 4 Best Resort in Southeast Asia in the 2026 Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards, after being voted the No. 1 Resort in Southeast Asia, No. 2 Resort in Asia and No. 9 Hotel in the World in the publication’s 2024 World’s Best Awards.
