Queensland RV enthusiasts have double reason to get excited this month, with Caravanning Queensland delivering two back-to-back expos: the returning Let’s Go Sunshine Coast Caravan & Outdoor Expo and the brand-new Let’s Go Ipswich Caravan & RV Expo.
The Sunshine Coast show returns to Nambour Showgrounds from August 21–23, before the series rolls into Willowbank Raceway just one week later for the inaugural Ipswich event from August 28–30, giving RV lovers two consecutive weekends of inspiration, discovery and outdoor adventure.
The Ipswich expo marks a significant expansion for the Let’s Go series, which has delivered Queensland’s favourite caravan events for more than 58 years. Backed by $14,000 in support from Ipswich City Council, including $4,500 in financial sponsorship and $9,500 in in-kind event reporting, the inaugural event is expected to attract more than 12,000 visitors to Willowbank Raceway over the three days.
Jason Plant, CEO Caravanning Queensland, said the two weekends together provide the RV industry with a reach they’ve never had before.
“From the Fraser Coast in the north to Toowoomba, the Scenic Rim and Maranoa in the west, and Beaudesert in the south. That’s a massive community of caravan-loving Queenslanders who finally have events close to home.
“The Sunshine Coast show launched in 2019 because the industry told us there was a gap, and it’s performed strongly ever since. Ipswich is the same, the region and the industry asked for it, and excited to be delivering it in a new and different way to our existing events.”
Not only is the Ipswich event the first caravan, camping and RV event in the region, it also takes the Let’s Go format further with onsite camping, a daily motocross show, a custom-built off-road track, cooking demonstrations, children’s activities, live music and fireworks creating a festival atmosphere unlike anything the series has done before.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said: Ipswich is known for its great outdoors, its natural beauty and its adventure-loving locals so it is the perfect location for the Let’s Go Ipswich Caravan and RV Expo
“The Expo will be held at our world-famous Willowbank Raceway, offering a flexible site layout and the capacity to cater for the event as it grows. The location also supports the large vehicle displays and outdoor activities central to the Expo, plus on-site caravan camping for visitors,” Mayor Harding said.
“More than 12,000 visitors are expected to attend the Expo, which will benefit our bustling economy, and attract more visitors and events to our city in the future.”
The Sunshine Coast and Ipswich expos will showcase hundreds of the latest caravans, motorhomes, campervans, camper trailers, slide-ons and outdoor adventure products, with options to suit every budget. The Talking Towing team will run daily VANSafe Masterclasses at each event, covering tow vehicle and caravan weights, safe loading and driving techniques for everyone from first-timers to experienced tourers.
With the Scenic Rim’s outdoor-loving community on its doorstep and Willowbank Raceway providing one of the region’s most versatile event venues, Ipswich is the perfect launchpad for the next chapter of Queensland caravanning.
