More than 140 members of the G Adventures community have come together across Australia and New Zealand to raise funds for G Adventures’ non-profit partner, Planeterra, during the inaugural Raise The Community 10-kilometre walk.

Held across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and even some remote walkers in Noosa, Gerringong, Canberra, Christchurch and London, the event brought together G Adventures staff, travel agent partners, supplier partners, friends and family, all united by a shared belief in the power of community tourism to transform lives.

Participants came together to raise funds for Planeterra to help support community tourism initiatives that create opportunities for local people around the world. While sunshine greeted walkers in Brisbane and Noosa, participants in other locations embraced the elements to ensure every kilometre counted. G Adventures founder Bruce Poon-Tip even joined in from London, completing his own 10-kilometres in solidarity with the ANZ community.

Sean Martin, Managing Director ANZ at G Adventures, who joined the Brisbane walk, said the event demonstrated the strength of the travel industry’s collective impact.

“Travel has always been about bringing people together, and that’s exactly what we saw with Raise The Community. It was incredibly inspiring to see so many of our team, travel agent partners, suppliers, friends and family step up – rain, shine and across different time zones – to support Planeterra and the communities we work alongside around the world.”

“Community tourism creates real opportunities for local people, and every dollar raised helps Planeterra continue that important work and gets us one step closer to our Project 300 goal. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who walked with us and helped turn a simple 10-kilometres into something that will have a lasting impact.”

Project 300 is G Adventures and Planeterra’s joint mission to uplift 300 communities through community tourism by the year 2030.

Raise The Community reflects G Adventures’ ongoing commitment to community tourism and the belief that when the travel industry comes together, small actions can create meaningful change for communities around the world.
