AmaWaterways has unveiled its first dedicated women’s only river cruise, responding to growing demand from travellers and the travel advisor community for hosted departures designed exclusively for women.
Departing on 19 August 2027, the specially curated Colours of Provence Wine Cruise will sail through the south of France aboard the elegant AmaKristina, combining a seven-night luxury river cruise with optional three-night stays in both Barcelona and Paris. The itinerary has been enhanced with a collection of exclusive experiences created especially for the departure, including curated wine tastings, a Pink French Martini demonstration, a Lavender Gin tasting, a Whispering Angel Rosé Sundeck Party and a Miraval Champagne breakfast. The cruise will also be hosted by acclaimed winemaker Emmanuelle Bekkers from Bekkers Wine in McLaren Vale.
The sailing retains all of AmaWaterways’ signature inclusions, from spacious accommodation and gourmet dining to daily guided shore excursions, wellness experiences, premium wines with lunch and dinner, gratuities and more.
Steve Richards, AmaWaterways Managing Director Australia and New Zealand, said the new departure was created after repeated requests from travel advisors seeking an experience tailored specifically to women travelling together.

“This is one of those ideas that has come directly from our travel advisor community,” said Richards. “They’ve been telling us they’re seeing more women wanting to travel together, whether that’s lifelong friends, sisters, mothers and daughters, or solo travellers looking to meet new people in a relaxed, welcoming environment.”
“We know women already make many of the travel decisions within a household, but we’re also seeing a real rise in women choosing to travel on their own terms. This cruise gives them the confidence to do that while enjoying everything AmaWaterways is known for, from exceptional dining and immersive excursions to outstanding wines and genuine connection.”
The women’s only river cruise is open to women and those identifying as women and features a limited number of dedicated solo occupancy staterooms, making it an attractive option for both independent travellers and groups.
