There’s something happening at Ovolo Sydney, with the announcement of a dramatic transformation that will see the popular boutique hotel emerge as the jewel of Sydney’s waterfront. The investment and subsequent renovation plans will see the property elevated to the next level of luxury from a brand as well as design perspective.
Inspired by the heritage of Finger Wharf and brought to life through modern design, every detail has been carefully considered and reimagined to craft a sophisticated guest experience for a new psychographic of travellers.
Ovolo Sydney General Manager James Clark said the hotel, which is just a 10-minute walk from Sydney’s CBD and in close connection to the city’s most treasured sites, is looking forward to writing its next chapter.
“We’re incredibly excited to be making some big changes to Ovolo Sydney to enhance our offering, while evolving our unique sense of style,” James said.
“This is a major transformation of a heritage-listed property and one of only a handful in Sydney to be located right on the water. This evolution seeks to evoke luxury that feels effortless, hospitality that feels personal, and experiences that resonate long after checkout.
“We’re examining every stage of the guest experience – from the rooms to the shared spaces – to constantly ask ourselves, ‘how can we do better?’ to deliver ‘more’ with a sophisticated traveller in mind.
“The reimagined Ovolo Sydney will serve as a luxurious haven for travellers, and the local community. Some places ask you to choose between destination and experience. Here, it is one and the same.”
A highlight of the overhaul is the Rockstar Suite concept – two exclusive suites featuring generously spacious living and dining areas dripping in deep maroons and browns with stunning wood detailing for a rich and lavish look and feel.
These suites include private balconies overlooking Woolloomooloo Bay, with views and space to either entertain in style on the sunlounges, or retreat in private saunas and ice-baths for a unique wellness experience.
Resident rockstars will be able to finally call it a night in the sprawling separate bedroom and ensuite, making themselves at home with an expansive walk-in robe.
While the hotel and the Ovolo brand undergo a dramatic transformation, there are fundamental hotel benefits that will remain consistent as the hotel remains operational at suitable capacity during the renovation period.
Guests will still be treated to Ovolo Sydney’s signature dining as well as five-star guest experiences across rooms and service offerings. From a selection of inclusive mini bar snacks and refreshments to cosmetic amenities guests will want to take home, the only thing that isn’t changing at Finger Wharf’s iconic hotel is its top-tier hospitality.

Soon, beautifully reimagined guest rooms, elevated dining experiences and carefully redesigned conference and event spaces will welcome guests from around the world. Every guest room has been thoughtfully styled from the ground up, balancing warmth, comfort and understated luxury.
While the rooms will be the first to be completed, epicurean travellers and locals won’t be disappointed with a series of food and beverage offerings unveiled towards the end of the year.
