Most beach towns slow down after summer. Pismo Beach just changes the itinerary.
Fall is when the summer crowds thin, the weather gets even better with full days of sun, and the event calendar shifts into full swing. Experience Pismo Beach is inviting visitors this year to three signature weekends, each offering a completely different way to experience California’s Classic Beach Town.
The season begins September 11–13 with Corgi Nation Vacation, when hundreds of corgis and their owners gather for a weekend of beach festivities, VIP experiences, and the free Corgi Beach Fest.
In October, the 80th Annual Pismo Beach Clam Festival returns October 17–18, celebrating eight decades of one of California’s longest-running coastal traditions. This year’s anniversary carries an added storyline: after decades of decline, juvenile Pismo clams have returned to local beaches. For the first time in a generation, the clam the festival is named for is back in the sand.
The season concludes November 7–9 with the second annual Pismo Beach Sand Art Festival, where international artists transform the shoreline into an outdoor gallery. Created directly in the sand with rakes, the large-scale artworks are designed to disappear with the tides, making each day’s exhibition unique.
Together, the three weekends highlight different sides of Pismo Beach while giving visitors three distinct reasons to plan a fall escape to California’s Central Coast.
