13 JULY, 2026 Solomon Islands’ national carrier, Solomon Airlines, is proud to announce a milestone in strengthening international connectivity with Asia through a newly launched interline agreement with Philippine Airlines and the successful implementation of Interline Through Check-In (IATCI) technical integration.

This milestone enables travellers to book seamless connections between Honiara and Manila via Port Moresby and Brisbane. In a significant boost for regional connectivity, the new partnership allows passengers to travel on a single ticket once they check in at Honiara or Manila, enjoying the convenience of having their baggage checked through to their final destination.

The technical activation of IATCI means that travellers no longer need to reclaim bags or re-check in at Port Moresby or Brisbane, reducing transit times and improving the overall passenger experience.

“This is an achievement for Solomon Airlines and a testament to our commitment to growing our footprint in Asia. By enabling IATCI technical integration, we are removing the friction from international travel and creating new pathways to and from the Pacific Islands.” said Matthew Findlay, CEO of Solomon Airlines.

Adding to the announcement, Cail Sanciangco, Assistant Vice President – Revenue Management, Commercial Planning & Alliances of Philippine Airlines, commented: “Our partnership with Solomon Airlines reflects Philippine Airlines’ commitment to expanding travel options through meaningful airline collaborations. By strengthening links between the Philippines and the Solomon Islands, we are creating new opportunities for tourism, commerce, and cultural exchange while enhancing regional connectivity across the Asia-Pacific.”

A Strategic Gateway to Asia

Solomon Airlines commenced its first weekly flight from Honiara to Port Moresby on Tuesday 7th July 2026 now operating four times weekly between Honiara and Brisbane.

This integration marks a pivotal step in Solomon Airlines’ strategy to develop network hubs outside Brisbane, now including Port Moresby as a key hub for travel to and from Asia. By leveraging existing flight connections with airline partners such as Philippine Airlines, Solomon Airlines is offering a faster, more efficient alternative for those traveling between the Solomon Islands and Southeast Asia.

The Honiara-Port Moresby-Manila and Honiara-Brisbane-Manila routes are expected to serve as a vital link for business, tourism, and labor mobility, fostering stronger ties between the South Pacific and Asian markets. Tickets for the newly connected services are available for purchase through Solomon Airlines Reservations, Sales Offices, travel agents, and Philippine Airlines.
