Dorchester Collection announces one of the most significant investments in the history of Hotel Principe di Savoia, with an extensive restoration that will celebrate everything that has made it so admired while preparing this beloved Milanese address for its next century.  The project represents a powerful expression of confidence in Milan and its future.

To realise this vision, Hotel Principe di Savoia will temporarily close from 1 January 2027 and is expected to reopen in 2029.

The world’s great hotels become part of the fabric of the cities they call home. They bring people together, witness their defining moments and, over time, earn their place among the stories that shape a city’s identity. For almost a century, Hotel Principe di Savoia has held that place in Milan. It has welcomed generations of curious minds, influential voices and people who leave their mark on the world, becoming woven into the life of the city and recognised around the globe as one of Europe’s great hotels.

Properties of such distinction deserve to be cared for with imagination, restored with exceptional craftsmanship and entrusted to each new generation with the same vision and commitment that first brought them to life. That philosophy has shaped every aspect of the project.

When Hotel Principe di Savoia reopens, it will reveal a more intimate expression of the hotel, with significantly enlarged guestrooms and suites alongside a limited collection of private residences, marrying the timeless character of the Principe with the warmth, care and generosity that define Dorchester Collection.

A spa and wellness destination, vibrant dining, and a rooftop venue overlooking Milan’s evolving skyline will together create a hotel worthy of the Principe’s remarkable legacy.

Christopher Cowdray, President of Dorchester Collection, said: “Since its opening in 1927, Hotel Principe di Savoia has become part of the life of Milan and the lives of generations of guests. As the hotel enters its centenary year, Dorchester Collection is embarking on a restoration which will reposition the hotel in its rightful place as the city’s leading hotel. Few opportunities are more exciting than helping shape the future of a hotel with such a remarkable legacy. We are immensely proud to be investing in its next century, ensuring it continues to enrich the cultural life of Milan and welcome future generations with the same warmth, elegance and generosity that have defined the Principe for almost one hundred years.”
